Great drill. Thanks. Have you ever looked at the Reeves Weedon Lower Body Swing for older players? I would love to hear your thoughts on it Mark. Thanks!
Your hard work really paid off, this video is phenomenal!
I play the driver like 6-12 inches in front of my lead foot. I launch at around 15 degrees and mid 170 ball speed. What am I doing wrong? Ball flight is usually a slight fade or draw but playable.
LOL… #262… You just can’t get away from it. Love the explanation. Even cooler is seeing how the drills are supposed to get that hip action straightened out. Thanks Mark!
In my quest for more distance, I have followed the advice you mention, i.e. move the ball ever forward, even outside my left foot. All that has led to is inconsistency and weaker, higher drives that fade right. I now play the ball towards the middle of my stance with driver and am striking it much more solidly and, of course, further.
Interesting but how is this concept not confused with another fault like early extension you regularly hear about most amateurs are plagued with?
does this relate with irons as well?
Makes a mockery of all the instructors who tell you to "cover the ball" and "avoid early extension" doesn't it?
This is a great concept – and so counter to what most instructors seem to generally teach especially with driver it seems! My recent instructor did advocate for moving the ball position a little further back but he never explained the "why" — I think you've clearly shown here that we are trying to introduce the trail side bend at a time where we can then extend up and back at a point in the sequence that maximizes forces into and through the strike. All of this tee it high and play it forward had gotten me into such bad habits with so much hand action to get a strike clearly sacrificing any use of the forces that come with a quality trail side bend that can be released and extended up and back through the shot. Cannot wait to get some proper reps in now!
I love your videos because there's no stereotypical advice. To me using intent as a means to an end is brilliant.
This video perfectly captures why I cannot hit UP on a driver.
Best on you tube at these types of vlogs
All makes sense but does this allow you to hit up on ball? i.e will club have time to bottom and then start going up?
And 262 makes an appearance. Hilarious
One of the best for us dingbats! Even the good dingbats! 😅
Seriously. If you guys want to learn a thing or two, mark here does an excellent job taking information pieces that Mike Adams and Terry Rowles have been using for years. As a Pro myself not only has my game improved immensely but also the lessons I give to students are more productive than ever before. Kudos to mark for not advertising clickbait that 90% of people can’t use to their personal game.
Excellent explanation!
Thanks mark thats the best driver instruction video i have ever seen , ive seen thousands , i very nearly didnt bother because its a driver video .
Seiously , much appreciated 👍
This has been my exact issue thank you so much
Great explanation Mark
