Head powerlifting coach Avi Silverberg competed as a female (which was in the rules) and broke the female bench record by 100 pounds! BUT THERES A TWIST! The previous record holder was a transgender female, Anne Andres. So who is in the wrong here? Or was he just following the rules

As a real woman, I am grateful for this dude….way more people should do this and way more women have to refuse to compete against mentally ill men who pretend to be women.
Avi clearly didn't do this for the medals, he's coaching women so they can compete in their sport, but their chances to become the best are basically zero. He's doing this to make a statement and forcing a conversation that otherwise doesn't seem to be brought up.

Btw, Anne Andres wasnt the Canadian record holder, just a provincial record. The canadian record is a fair bit higher

I think what Avi did wasn't necessarily a protest against Anne herself. She has taken a number of steps and jumped through a number of hurdles to be recognized as a female lifter. Moreso, I think Avi was focused on how bullshit the current RULES are in that they allow FAR more ridiculous things to happen, like exactly what he did. Whether or not Anne and people like her are qualified to compete, the rules themselves need to change. There is PLENTY of room to make more restrictive rules, while still allowing people who have medically transitioned and actually identify as female to compete in the female division.

We don't need to say anything else. This knight in shining armour came in and took the record for us women. Men will need to until trans get their own category. Yet again men save women, but I fear this will come to an end. I consider myself a strong woman but I can't count the times a man has saved me from a bad man. I am ever grateful for the protection men I don't know have given me.

ANNE is not a BIOLOGICAL FEMALE. Avi did this to highlight the ridiculous lack of rules in the women's category. No man should be competing in the woman's category. I and 18 other women was at the National Powerlifting Union Competition in Vancouver in Feb 2023 to protest the male participating in the woman's competition. A trans identified male (Anne Andres) was representing Alberta and took third place in the women's 84kg+ category. It was a travesty. Then Avi comes in an destroys "ANNES" record. HA! Thank you AVI! He is a hero!
Also Anne Andres totally dissed women on IG and how little they can bench with absolutely no self awareness that men(himself) have a true strength advantage especially in upper body. Zack, you need to understand that you are not being political if you state this. You don't need to pussy foot around it either. It would be nice if coaches like you spoke against this so others would also gain the courage to do the same and women could have their sports back.

I haven't finished the video but in case you didn't know the previous record holder is a trans-women, and she was the saying that she was nice in fact she is not she was trashing other real women for having weak bench compared to her even tho she is a man
