If you struggle in bunkers it’s because you have a bunker technique that will only work if the sand is perfect. Bunker shots can be very simple if you have the right bunker technique.
In this bunker lesson Danny Maude is going to show you how to:
1. Get out of bunkers every time by changing just one thing
2. To hit bunker shots closer you will need precision. You can achieve this by changing one thing in your bunker set up
3. No one tells you how to play bunker shots from soft and HARD sand. Danny Maude shows you the changes you need to make in this bunker lesson

ABOUT DANNY
———————–
Thanks for stopping by. I created this website as a resource just for you to support you on your golfing journey as I know how tricky learning this game can be…to say the least!
I personally found learning the game too long and difficult in the early days. I read all the books, watched all the videos but my game was not improving. Then after studying various forms of neuro science, motor learning, psychology and personal development in less than two years I went from struggling golfer to the final stage of the Open Championship.
On YouTube and my personal website (www.dannymaude.com) I will bring you the most up to date training, training that is getting tangible results for my clients right now. I don’t know where you are in your golfing journey, you could be just starting out or maybe your body isn’t as flexible as it once was or you’ve got ambitions to slash your handicap. Wherever you are I’ve created a place here you can learn, share your ideas, ask questions and get all the support you need to enjoy this great game.
Be prepared though. If its a quick fix you are after Im not your man. Here I will give you step-by-step advice that you can take straight to the practice ground and apply to the course but it will require you to get stuck in, screw up…a lot, practice some more and then watch those scores tumble
I’ve had the pleasure of coaching thousands of students all around the world and if you are up for the challenge and are ready to get in the game…LETS GO TO WORK!

Great help Danny. Thank you 😊
Danny, great lesson for bunker work. As I was watching the portion about hard sand it made me think of thin lies around the green. In this case would the approach be similar to a chipping technique?
I Like how you present the pre shot thoughts into the set up before you perform the shot. Great presentation and simple lessons. Thank you
You are the only instructor I listen to now. All of your lessons make sense and are catered to people like me who need the techniques to improve. Thank you!
Excellent instruction as usual thanks Danny!
Danny, good video. One course I play has put 10 inches of loose sand that will not compact, so their is no base of firm sand. I need advice on how to deal with this extreme situation. Thanks.
Great video and explanation and man did I need this , I played Thursday, it was cold and windy but I hit great drives and second shots , I shot a 49 for 9 holes while this is an improvement for me my chipping and getting out of two sand traps cost me 4-6 strokes , Thanks for sharing your expertise , I will practice this at the range where we have a sand trap👍👍
Excellent!⛳
Superb Danny! Thanks.
What about opening the face but not changing your direction of swing?
Hi Danny, that's good, thanks. We'll all be hoping to be in bunkers now! (as you've shown us how to get out) 😃
Hi Danny
Is there anyway you could do a lesson in getting out of trouble when your drive finishes off
the fairway in the trees . You need to hit the ball low under branches to get back on the fairway .
Great tips Danny for bunker shots. I noticed that your handle position is more up and down, than hands forward, with a shaft lean. I think that is the key to better bunker shots. Thanks Danny
Great video with tips. Unfortunately in my area we don't have ideal practice areas. Driving range and a putting green. No bunkers to practice from. On very slow golfing days, I can go to a bunker on the course, but the superintendent gives me dirty looks. Sooooo. Bunker play is my weak area.
Making the ball mark behind the actual ball is going to help a lot of golfers !As usual Danny 👍👏
Danny great job again can you maybe one day do fairway bunkers hitting out with woods and when close to lip thanks so much
need strategies to get out of fairway sand please!!
took me 3 attempts to get out of a bunker today, come home and this video is suggested. The Youtube algorithm is getting too strong.
This is a real problem for me so I will try this out many thanks for this Danny😊
Great lesson Danny. I'd like to know how you play out of rock hard bunkers if you don't have a 60°wedge in your bag.
I really needed this help, thank you. I usually NR if I go in the bunker because I can’t get out. I’ve been as much as 10-12 bunker shots if I do get out
Danny, I really enjoyed this lesson, do you know what else I’ve been using in the sand I’ve been using the tick-tock rhythm that you described in your chipping lesson in order to rhythm my swing. I have found it pretty helpful in the trap as well. Thanks for adding some logic to the sand trap shot. I’d be curious if other subscribers have considered using the TickTock timing for their sand shots. Have a nice day and thanks for the lesson.
You think this sounds easy!?
Living in Ohio and playing in the winter We deal with a lot of hard sand and it is very difficult to play out of. I actually almost play it as a tight lie and just act like it's just ground and not sand and pitch the ball out
Why more loft for harder sand?
Love the visualisation of the ghost ball 👏
I’ll bare that in mind next time I’m at the beach 😆😊
Great video. I play on a course in Spain. Real mixture of too much and very little on the same course. So sometimes too much sand and come out short and blade it on hard sand🤪
Great advice. Great explanation
I enjoyed this. Explained clearly!
Again my friend you are my hero!!! Very good lesson. Here I go to the PGA tour. Lol😂
I wasn't aware of digging deeper into hard sand to push the ball out. I'm generally ok with playing out of bunkers except if I am close to the lip of the bunker and I sometimes hit into it with the ball rolling back in. As always enjoy your tutorial and look forward to the next. Take care and have a great week.
You just made hitting out of sand so much sense! Thanks again Danny🙏
Your an amazing teacher
Thank you
