After the Match Play, the Tour stays in the Lone Star State for the Valero Texas Open. The final spot in the Masters next week will serve as extra motivation for the field as they take on TPC San Antonio. On the Tour Report, Elk & Diane look back on last week and Sam Burns’ victory, talk about the course & and field, go through our unique statistical analysis and give their top picks to lift the trophy (and the cowboy boots!).

Love the picks, gonna have me some of Todd, Fowler, Kizzire and Duncan. Talk about playing players with injuries I'm gonna take my chances with Matsuyama and his neck injury as my outright this week for 2 reasons, depth of field and his coming off a 5th place finish at the Players. My one to watch will be Cam Davis another who said he had a lingering illness which resulted in 5 MC in a row but he broke that streak with a T6 at the Players. My LS pick is going to be Kazuki Higa 180/1 OWGR 81st played well on the Japan and DPWT tours because I had the same as Diane's picks with Kizzire and Duncan already in my DFS lineups
Another great show. I like listening to you guys you are the best I love the experience and the way you two talk about golf.
The matchplay was great and I will miss it. IMO it was so good this year because the course was gettable. Loads of birdies and rapidly changing scenarios. Unlike previous years like when Billy won with +1 in a 5 1/2 hour round, which was unwatchable. Lesson make the matchplay course gettable.
My suggestion to avoid this and boost the event would be this.
Men's and womens events run concurrently on the same course, (not mixed event)
32 players in each field. 4 day event not 5 and knock out every match.
Thursday 16 men's and 16 womens matches
Friday 8 men's and 8 womens
Saturday 4 men's and 4 womens starting in the afternoon so I can get a round in on Saturday morning.
Sunday = sports, semi finals in the morning, finals and consolation matches in the afternoon.
Equal purses
Benefits
Reduced matches and knockout makes it more compelling
Always enough matches on the course for good viewing
Reduced viewing hours I think would boost viewership especially on Saturday afternoon after we all get home from our round.
2 different scenarios to follow with men's and womens trophies on the line, at least 1 should be a compelling watch.
36 hole Sunday in line, sort of, with US amateur matchplay
Equal purses would grab headlines
PGA tour and LPGA tour matchplay champions on the stage at the same time.
Great stuff guys… Short sharp and succinct👊🏾👊🏾👊🏾
