Don’t Let The Takeaway Wreck Your Golf Swing (this just works). This is the best golf drill to help with your golf backswing. Improving your backswing can also help you stop coming over the top in your downswing. Can stop you slicing the golf ball and help you hit the golf ball further. I hope this helps your golf game.

Hi I’m Matt Lockey, welcome to my Coach Lockey YouTube Channel. This YouTube channel is designed to help you play better golf, and to help you enjoy your golf more!
I specialise in golf course vlogs, golf challenges, golf tips, golf lessons, golf club reviews and the odd golf club unboxing. So pretty much everything golf!
I want to help you play better golf by providing coaching videos on all topics about golf. How to fix your slice, fix your hook, help you drive the golf ball longer, hit your irons more pure, hit your irons closer to the hole and help you draw and fade your golf shots.
As well as helping you produce the best long game you can have, I will help you lower your scores by chipping better, stopping duff and thin chips, pitching the ball closer and creating backspin like the tour pros. Finally, I will provide you help to putt better and hole more putts too!

Coach…I feel like you were looking at my swing with the rolling open…Great tip with the ball…
Any links to Peppa Pig balls?! 😄 Great vid thanks
Peppa Pig ball ordered 👌🏽🤣
Great explanation
I've worked on this a lot with my coach. I used to be a big roller inside. Great tips!
I agree with owning a Peppa ball 😂😂
Great example of a good back swing. How did you get that screen to work outside in your backyard without a projector?
Been working on something similar coach and my takeaway has improved but when I get to the top my trail arm flex’s and I get the club across the line then come down steep. Definitely looking forward to the next videos for the top of the swing 👌
Rather have Peppa Pig sweet and sour balls
Great drill coach
Defo got a bit of this arm weirdness going on in my takeaway, thanks coach … Now where on earth is my peppa pig ball!? 🤔😝
A nice simple and easy way tom train that take away. Will have to buy a Peppa Pig ball now!!!!
I can get the takeaway done well but when I’m at parallel I have the feeling of going straight up with the hands, but it feels so awkward to do and I can’t do that in one fluid motion I always find I have to stop after the takeaway, any tips?
One of the best explanations of this I’ve seen on yt, still fight this problem playing off 5. Interestingly I manage to bend the right arm too much like you demonstrated while having a more closed face 😅 think it comes from trying to keep the elbows close the wrong way, look forward to taking this vid to the range 👌🏼
I have the opposite problem, coach! I can maintain angles going back, but I "cast" my wrists thru impact, such that I unintentionally add loft, with steep upward follow through. Not over the top, just adding loft
Perfect, golf swings are all about feels, exaggerated feels for myself , when I've filmed my swing it looks nothing like it feels, it's really amazing , for me to shorten my backswing I actually felt like I needed to start my transition at club parallel on backswing , it was unbelievable, so strange to watch your own swing, !! but a must!! Thanks Coach taking this to the range tomorrow, no doubt,,
Great tip Coach. Good weather has arrived in the SE U.S.. Now it's time really work on the game. Thanks for posting!
Use a rugby ball.
THIS I will practice. The 'bad way', for those of us that don't flip to save it, leads to shanks. I don't like those.
Bad grip is one of the culprits here.
Good words, I like that drill.
I'm finding that as long as I keep my lead arm straight during the take-away …turning the face towards the sky a bit is actually creating a draw for me. 🤷🏼♂️
Where’s that affiliate link to the Peppa Pig ball bruh?!?!?! LOL. Seriously, anything that helps build or train my club face awareness is a drill I need in my life. Thanks Coach!
I'll fly ova from Australia, u can teach me how to swing properly and I'll pressure wash ur brick fence
dum dum da dum dum.. dum du dum da dum dum… peppa pig
(every 7 mins) for 2 hours. and… bed time!
Great video Coach.
Coach Lockey signature peppa pig swing aid. Yes please.
You old devil!!!!
It actually works, just went up range and tweaked my takeaway! Added 30 yards to my drive, felt amazing! You are the coach 👍🔥🙏
Great drill! It's the only drill so far that has actually helped me to keep hands in and club out to defeat an inside takeaway. Thanks Coach!
I tried to do this drill, but really couldn't get it, something just didn't feel right, I went through everything to try and work out the problem, then I had that eureka moment…
The Scooby Doo ball just wasn't working for me 😉😂
Do I specifically need a Peppa Pig ball to practice or will a SpongeBob Square ball work too for this exercise?
An over the top swing has been a long-term problem for me. This drill may be just what I need!
Ur swings at the end were INSIDE 🤦🏼♂️
Any ideas about takeaway being too ‘inside’ with a closed face? Never seen any video about it and I suffer from it
Nicely demonstrated and simplified for anyone to executive and develop this crucial swing fundamental!
Yes Coach the golfer should start their swing anti clockwise so that at transition part of the swing the golfer can immediately twirl the club clockwise; looping the club down to its shallow plane of action in order to swing through the ball as the golfer body is bent and rotating Correct?
Will get back to working on this today. Haven’t touched my clubs since November. Shame
Really good drill coach, visually explains what to look for.
One of your best videos. Thanks.
