The USGA has announced a plan to roll back the golf ball in 2026 for the highest level of golfers. Is this a good idea and does it solve the distance problem on tour? Tursky and Knudson talk about the pros and cons of this change for the tour and amateur golfers.

Yep that's a great idea roll the ball back to the feathery. All woods wooden heads hickory shafts only in elite level tournament golf. 🤦♂️ the long hitters will still out drive the slower swingers. They worry to much about courses getting over powered and less on setup. Setup tournament's like the US open and the Open Championship. Deep rough, softer fairways, fast hard greens would do better to equalize the field and save old courses. Bottom line watching elite golfers shoot par or a couple under doesn't sell day in day out like watching 20 under tournament's. Standard tournament setup allows for courses getting overpowered and made obsolete.
1.5 inch tee max. I cant hit up on the ball anyway, wont effect me.
true add some spin.
Lovely little breakdown. I am very curious about the mathematics involving specific distance reductions for specific players, launch conditions etc.
