Commissioner of golf’s PGA Tour Jay Monaghan rubbished claims that changes to next year’s PGA Tour schedule that include limited fields and no cuts, were in response to what competitor LIV Golf were already doing.
Speaking at a press conference ahead of this week’s Players at TPC Sawgrass on Tuesday, Monaghan argued that the PGA Tour would still be very different to LIV Golf.
However, he added that it was important for the best players of the PGA Tour to be competing in events more often and pointed out that less than 40% of the tour’s best players competed against each other at tour events.
