Our first LIV player, Thomas Pieters, joins the show for the first time (01:00:49). We delve into the decision to join, how different the experience has been compared to the PGA Tour, and if Thomas has any qualms over LIV’s origins. We also discuss living in Belgium, playing in the upcoming Masters, and watching the PGA Tour’s big events now as an “outsider.” Before Thomas joins, we expand on the latest in the golf ball rollback debate, announce an upcoming live show, and determine the best golf bathroom.

Thomas Pieters Interview – 01:00:49 – 01:52:40

THANK YOU FRANKIE. That is the correct opinion about using the same ball as the pros. Because we don’t use the same clubs anyway. Thank you, finally someone speaking sense about this
I'm a neutral, but i think LIV has huge potential..reminds me of IPL Cricket.
It would be cool if they rolled the ball back at SELECT courses to make them relevant. Maybe some course they played in US Opens in the 70s or 80s…or if Augusta becomes a Par 3 course. Have a set of balls that anyone can buy but only online and the rest of the tournaments use regular balls
Seems like solid dude
Great interview! I think this helped the 4play boys in their perception of LIV.
Pieters is so full of shit
At what point so high school and college golfers have to change equipment completely and relearn how to play because of a new golf ball? It’s ridiculous
Not gonna lie… Hard to not like this dude.
In 1977 Jack Nicholas told the USGA about keeping an eye on the ball distance, Jack was hitting a balata ball with that old equipment 300+ yards at times. All sports evolve, because humans evolved. I think a easy fix is tell the players to stop training, and start eating crap food, drink more alcohol, and start smoking. These people who run these organizations aren’t that smart, they set the guidelines for equipment, where did they think was going to happen, businesses got to have product turn over to survive. Plus the gains over the years have just been minor ticks year by year of distance and that’s for the elite, not the majority, and we spend our money, most of the elite get it for free, and the customers cover that cost plus contract obligations.
Get Andy Johnson on
Why do you guys, have a Liv golfer clown, on the show ????
hard work pays off! 👏
Uh oh, Daddy Rory is going to be mad
It is legitimately insane to care about where the money comes from considering the fact that that 90 percent of people saying anything about this are literally tweeting it on an iphone made in China. Charles Barkley said the same thing. It's becoming a dumb take at this point. DP World plays in Saudi. Golfers are already sponsored by Saudi. Yet all of these people think that this take makes sense being posted on a device that was made by slavery. Literally brain dead take at this point, especially from the people making it.
This rollback stuff is ridiculous! What’s next? You can only hit an iron off this par 5 tee? Or You can only play whatever golf ball they supply you with week to week like nascar does with tires?
“still better than most people that actually play the game of golf.” -Riggs…. That is absolutely delusional to even say bro 💀
Good interview but ask some tougher questions next time.
The only thing is as a fan of golf I want to see the best compete, he’s great but doesn’t seem to care at all about being a top golfer in the world. That’s fine but one of the reasons I don’t watch liv is most of the guys there think this way.
Great interview! Love Thomas. Would’ve liked to hear his masters prediction? Does he think LIV deserve owgr points?
I made sure to listen before commenting that…some of this guys arguments against the PGA Tour are bogus. It’s about money, clearly. Legacy means nothing. So just admit that and maybe people wouldn’t be so upset
Frankie saying "Range Goats? That's crazy. It's not like you are the "YANKEES" as if that isn't a preposterous name that just happens to have a shit load of history
No thanks.
I don't get why Dan keeps saying that the point of the ball rollback is to bring the game back to some bygone golden era. The purpose is simply to not force courses to lengthen as much. The question shouldn't be "is bifurcation or rolling back the ball stupid?" it should be "is rolling back the ball dumber than tearing down roads to build new tee boxes for tournament courses?" One thing is the PGA Tour which runs most of its' tournaments in the US, but let's look at elite golf in a global perspective. Thomas Pieters' home country of Belgium is over 10 times more densely populated compared to the US, and real estate is much more precious resource. I get the argument that it's tough for the top level of amateurs to relearn the game with a weaker ball, but what about the top level of amateurs in places where courses of tour length are rare or non-existant? It's much easier to ship a weaker golf ball around the world than it is to build 8000 yard courses. Countries like Norway currently don't have many courses longer than 7200 yards, if any at all. I think if you want to develop and grow elite level golf around the world, you can't risk letting the footprint become too big.
You should ask Tiger, JT, Spieth, etc. about all the countries USA invaded and crimes against humanity. Also ask them about Seth Ritch, the children US bombed in Afghanistan and Iraq invasion. ask the PGA guys about the Covid funding and experimental drugs the government made. Saudis is mostly cruel to their own citizens while US is too the world.
Frankie and Trent are so mad there's no drama with Thomas
Always been a Thomas fan since he snapped the club over his neck haha
For Golf Ball debate, One point I'd like to discuss.. Who cares if players are shooting -13 on some of these courses. Or if they're driving greens? why does that mean we can't play those courses anymore? Get over yourselves.
a 40-yard field goal used to be difficult. Now Kickers are nailing 60 yard field goals. Should we take distance out of the footballs?
If more players continue to have the self awareness that TP showed here (“I know I’m not the next Rory or Tiger”) then the PGA is going to have a really tough time retaining some of these middle of the pack players going forward. Aside from the “controversy” surrounding funding, why wouldn’t you want a guaranteed payday and set schedule? Can see a lot of PGA guys looking back 10 years from now and regretting turning that $100 million down after realizing they weren’t ever going to win a major 🤷🏻♂️.
Still don’t like the whole situation that LIV has created, but hard to fault anyone for guaranteeing their future without having the pressure of actually needing to produce results lol.
Much needed interview and a new fan of Pieters
TP was a horrible interview. Doesn’t have anything to say and his idc attitude isn’t good for a podcast interview. At least come prepared. Was basically a normal foreplay podcast but with a guy saying “idk” or “idc” occasionally
Some terrible misconceptions from the stool. Sounded like pga reps pushing the narrative for a good 30min. Frankie needs to chill on criticizing Pieter’s career. Stay in your lane bro.
Frankie nailed it. This guy just couldn’t make friends on tour. 😂
“Reading the podcast” definitely threw me through a loop. Appreciate Frankie for pointing it out lol!
