Lots to cover after the Detroit Red Wings had an interesting home-and-home series against Tyler Bertuzzi & the Boston Bruins!

Tune in as we discuss Detroit’s performance over the two games, including Alex Chiasson’s successful stint with the Red Wings (especially at the net-front on the power play, taking Sundqvist’s role), Copp, Larkin, & Raymond producing, a physical series against Marchand & Co., Moritz Seider’s beautiful breakway backhander for the shorthanded goal, & plenty more (3:55)!

Also, updates on Robby Fabbri (19:20), as well as promising news about Carter Mazur & Marco Kasper – could they make the Red Wings next season, or will the Grand Rapids Griffins get a big boost (not to mention Edvinsson, Johansson, Wallinder, & others) (21:40)?

Next, with Filip Hronek traded & not much in the pipeline, what will Steve Yzerman do to fill the hole at right defense? Will Lalonde keep Chiarot on the right side, or will Yzerman pursue a Karlsson, Gudas, Dumba, or Maatta 2.0-type (27:05)?

With the 2023 NHL Draft looming, one name has become extremely interesting: Matvei Michkov. With the Russian phenom poised to stay in the KHL until 2026, would he be too big of a risk to draft? Tune in for our full analysis on his insane hockey IQ, offensive skills, & what makes him such an enticing prospect (even next to Connor Bedard) (43:00).

All of that & lots more before taking your questions during Overtime (59:20) – enjoy!

  1. Trade Our first and Fabbri for Clayton Keller. He needs to get out of AZ and we need a #2 center

  2. I have a funny feeling that Yzerman actually thought about this whold right defense thing before he traded Hronek. He's at least two or three steps ahead of everyone.

  3. The right d is a big, concerning issue. Especially when u consider that Steve said he doesnt want to play someone on the right side that isnt used to it or that he wants a right handed d. Which makes it curious that he traded a Hronek, and that have a ton of left d in the pipeline. I understand why the trade happened, but so many holes on the right with so many prospects on the left with no room.
Did u hear Pang saying that Lindstrom has an opportunity to grab that right side? I cringed when i heard him say that, which makes me wonder if he has paid any attention to Lindstrom play. Or worse, Steve mentioned it to his friend Pang. (cringe) Most likely, we will get a Haag type on the right side, cringe.

  4. Brad, thank you for your statement that the Wings aren't a Cup Contender in the next 3 years…Playoff candidate, Yes. Cup Contender, No. I made the same comment on a Wing Centric forum/website recently and caught a lot of flack. 🤷

  5. Guys, I can't tell you how nice it is when I get out of work early in the morning, and there you are waiting for me. Excellent win today! LGRW 🐙 🏒 🤘

  6. I just don't understand Yzerman's logic. In his most recent presser after the trade deadline he said "teams don't just trade away their good players" when there was a Timo Meier available at this most recent deadline. Like Brad, there are not a lot of those high end players on the bottom feeders anymore, so are we just waiting for the next team that goes into "rebuild mode" to buy their top end talent?

  7. If the injury is serious Fabbri, he is a candidate for LTIR. This is the 5rh or 6th injury for both knees. We are losing count now.
Rival fans were ready to stick a fork in Seider and pumping the sophomore slump, Seider got into a bad pairing with Chariot and he seems not phased by it.

  8. RHD? Jeff Petry. He's having a bounce back season. He's a legit top pair right D. Forget the contract. It's market value. Pens need assets if they flame out of the playoffs again, they'll sell. Hextall didnt want to resign Letang and Malkin but Crosby forced his hand, Petry is someone they can trade from Pittsburgh. A few 2nds and a prospect would work

  9. Funny 2023 mock draft picks in the top 50 for Detroit😂:

Detroit Red Wings 2023 picks first 2 rounds.
    2nd overall: Adam Fantilli
    *10th overall: Axel Sandin Pellikka
(Detroit Red Wings trade Filip Zadina to Vancouver Detroit Red Wings receives Tyler Myers contract and Vancouver's 2023 1st round draft pick 10th overall.)
    *16th overall: David Reinbacher
    (originally N.Y.I. pick)
40th overall: Noah Dower Nilsson (originally St. Louis pick)
41st overall: Kasper Halttunen (originally Vancouver's pick)
*42nd overall: Traded to Chicago (Detroit receives Arvid Soderblom)

  10. Lmao why in God’s name would you do a michkov profile , we continue to shoot ourselves in the foot with these wins. You might as well do some realistic targets

  11. I hate to say it but if BOS & TOR meet in the 2nd round, I'll be leafs #1 fan. I loathe Boston and at least with the leafs I can be happy for Dangle

  12. The Winged Wheel Podcast is the Michael Bunting of hockey podcasts with the way they complain about getting old and having aches and pains

  13. I do not feel sad, that we will not playi in the playoffs this season!. Draft well 2023 and comeback strong, with some new good players 2023/24!

    I have a crazy idea!
SY should offer sheet pettersson 2024!
The cap, will get up and the next draft genaration, will be weaker (on paper)!
So it will not hurt so much, to give up 2x 1st picks and pettersson get a 10-10,5 mio contract
    LGRW

  14. You guys should look at Oliver Moore, Ryan Leonard, and Gabe Perreault from the USDP. The Red Wings are much more likely to get one or two of those guys than Michkov in the draft.

  15. The Wings need to toughen up and stop getting pushed around. The fans are angrier then they seem to be about it

  16. Hey guys long time listener, first time viewer. Didn't realize the Shea Weber – "Evan" Thing was actually a joke lol! How'd you guys meet Shea and is his LTIRetirement anyway related to this podcast? Thnx!!
