Simply put, one of the all-time great performances. This weekend, France ripped England limb from limb as they played some breathtaking rugby to inflict the biggest away win Twickenham had ever seen, and set their World Cup hopes back alight. So how did they do it, and just what is wrong with England?

  1. And don't forget the french under 20 did the same to the english team (42-7)…
So get used to massacre, it's just starting.

  2. You're right … I fell in love with Rigby again. The French were glorious. I had become sick of all the rubbish "play-for-penalties" tactics that most teams play to. Great analysis b.t.w.

  3. Yes Eddie will be laughing. He was paid millions to run England into the ground while "money was no object" for the RFU.
They got rid of Lancaster, Farrell, Catt and turned down the option of Edwards in the meantime.
Eddie did a great job of guiding an England demise while the best generation of English coaching talent was wasted.

  4. Your reviews are fantastic. Sometimes I think you know more about the players and teams than they know themselves.

  5. Really happy Cros is finally getting some well-deserved recognition on the international stage. He's an incredibly smart player whose rugby IQ is crucial to the balance of the French back row. One of the best loosies in the world imo.

  6. A great game if you're French, a terrible game overall for rugby. So many weak NH teams going into a WC isn't a good thing.

  7. Is kicking off both feet impressive? Decent backs were doing it 25 years ago. I even taught myself to do it.

  8. The question is not How France "massacre" England (no thanks the french word in your question (I'm Franco-British).The Question should be Why an unsinkeable English Team went down under the British Channel in 80 minutes ?"

  9. So 'How did France massacre England?'
Answer- England are shite. The sooner they accept that the better. 1966 was a long time ago. Yes i have heard commentators in rugby mention, during an England game the 1966 world cup final.

  10. It's incredible how a big english defeat can suddenly made the all world speak about rugby…

  11. Thanks squidge; feel sorry for England – rebuilding and came across the best real rugby performance in modern times.

  12. “Ntamack’s spatial awareness is so good it makes NASA jealous” 😂
When half the England team made individual errors in the first 20 mins it was obviously going to be a bad day, and, unfortunately, France were really, really good! There is a danger that we are going to get absolutely battered by Ireland, who are just fantastic right now.

  13. As a Frenchman (faites chier la vache) I was very proud of what the french squad achieved. However, we've been there for nearly 10 years before Galthie arrived and I can only feel the pain for the English supporters. But that too shall pass and England remains a major rugby country (and founder of the game) so… Looking forward for the next crunches already! 2023WC is likely a write-up, but There are some really good players that could mature for 2027….

  14. “Laughing like a hyena that’s watched hot fuzz for the first time” 😭😭

  15. France weren’t that good England made a lot of handling errors missed a few tackles fix those to areas up the team can take anyone on

  16. Dont get me wrong. England was always going to struggle to keep this defeat to less than 20 points, and yes, England was rubbish, and France was better in all aspects, but mainly playing a ref totally out of his depth.
I'm just glad the ref from Wales v italy game wasn't in charge as England would have lost by 100 and only had 9 players on the pitch.
I've never seen so much neck roll served on a French menu before. Amazed wills and curry heads still screwed on

  17. Sport is the only thing the frogs could beat us at,they'd have been overrun/ invaded more than once if not for Gt Britain

  18. Farrell had a good game off the bench, but he’s coming on as a centre NOT A 10. By the end of the match Farrell was kicking every penalty England won, to the point where Smith could’ve just walked off the field. Smith is the 10, Farrell is the 12 but by the end he might as well’ve been the 10.

One or the other, they need to make their mind up because as a Quins fan I hate that Smith can’t feel comfortable in this England team; it’s clear to see.

  19. Would an Eddie Jones coached England team with most of the same personnel really have done much better? France were awesome, England well below par. It happens.

  20. As a Frenchman, it was the best national team match of rugby I've witnessed so far

As you said, Galthié brought together all the ingredients he always wanted & it added up really well

So much fun to watch this match, it was sheer Rugby champagne, a performance i'll never forget
