On March 13th, 2023, what seemed to be a normal race night at Hickory Motor Speedway turned into an all out cluster. Unwritten rules and controversy sent waves throughout the south-east short track landscape.

    Having seen Huffmans clip, clips from media etc it is clear that this rule was not known about by teams/ drivers. And since it is an unwritted rule it cannot be a rule.
    My suggestion until this is sorted out drivers avoid this track.And its dodgey no rules.
    IF a driver crashes or breaks down they should always be elegible to start in the second heat. Like all classes of motorsport worldwide. Fresher tyres are one thing,, but no result in the first heat means they are way down in the second heat.
    As for the track??? Look at it broken and patched and abrasive. Maybe they should fix that first

    I thought tracks put out rule books every year. If that’s true every rule should be in the latest edition except new rules made after its publication. A separate addendum would make everything clear.

    The lack of responsibility from HMS is a disgrace to short track racing in a time when there are many struggles. HMS I believe started mentioning this only last year a few times not for years. I support the 75 but am struggling with giving HMS any money in the future.

    There are more local short tracks around if the drivers, teams and fans would stick together and not support HMS it wouldn’t take long for the track to figure it out that without the teams, drivers and fans the tracks income wouldn’t be there. I wanted to attend races there but with that fiasco I would rather support a track that cares more about the teams,drivers and fans.

    I still think that all of the Hickory driver's and fan's should stay away for a race or two. This "management" group needs to be taught a lesson concerning unwritten rules.
