Lots of people can get into his position at the top, but here is the difference between what Kitayama does from there vs most amateurs.

  1. He is not using his wrists to shallow his club. From the top of his swing he making that right elbow move to a point in front of the right hip, and when making that move from the top while letting the hands are lagging behind the elbow, that is what flattens the shaft.

  2. Interesting swing, Monte. So many of these young pros use this type of position based swing, lots of body leverage to get the club down to a good position. Looks like a lot of strain on the back to me in order to play a fade from a position where a draw looks easy. Obviously works but not, as you say, for the average, unfit golfer.

  3. He’ll be off the tour in 3 years with that move and no amateur is getting better trying to do that

  4. yeah but that's a huge change of direction right? wouldn't that lead to inconsistency hence the way he played the following week missing the cut?
