Mike Tyson vs. Andrew Golota, billed as Showdown in Motown, was a professional boxing match contested on October 20, 2000.
After serving a 15-month ban because of his actions during his 1997 match with Evander Holyfield, Tyson returned in January 1999 with a fifth-round knockout win over heavyweight contender, Francois Botha. After Botha, Tyson had little trouble with his next three opponents. He fought a no-contest with Orlin Norris. Norris was injured and could not continue after the first round. Further fights included a second-round knockout against veteran Julius Francis followed by a 34-second knockout versus fringe contender Lou Savarese. On August 30, 2000, the announcement came that Tyson’s next fight would be against former heavyweight title challenger Andrew Golota.[1] Both men came into the fight with reputations as dirty fighters which led some to doubt whether the two could have a clean fight. Golota’s two most notable fights were against Riddick Bowe, where both times, Golota was disqualified for hitting Bowe below the waist. Meanwhile, Tyson was notoriously disqualified in his rematch with Holyfield for biting both of Holyfield’s ears and had a history of hitting after the bell, repeated in his fights against Botha, Norris and Savarese. Golota publicly stated that he planned to fight cleanly. Tyson stated that he hoped he would obtain a quick knockout victory over Golota.

Oh man this is my second favourite fight of Mike Tyson and
many many thanks for uploading it in this great high definition quality
The one and only Iron Mike Tyson! Biggest legend in boxing of all times! 1988th Tyson against every fighter who ever lived! Serbia
Майк как всегда на высоте. Шансов небыло только реанимация…
This goes to show how shot Bowe was after Golota dominated him twice in 1996, those three wars with Holyfield finished Bowe.
Did Andrew Golota still get paid for this?
A shattered eye socket.
Herniated discs in the neck.
Concussion.
Whiplash.
Some of the injuries Golotta sustained during this fight.
Iron Mike was like a great white shark 😳
Really like that ball buster
Some boxers like ears he likes nutz
Lol I forgot he quit. But to be fair his team wasn't in front of and taking those nuclear bombs in the face
this man was clearly concussed and unable to put a sentence together and the announcers are calling him a coward. Disgusting if you ask me.
Fighting is a very mental game
Tyson looked great in this fight! I wish he fought like this against Lewis
The announcer called what Golota did "cowardice?" The man had a concussion, broken eye socket, injured neck among other injuries. Not only should this announcer feel ashamed but the crowd throwing things at the man should too. The real cowardice here was shown by this announcer and those in the crowd who booed and threw things at the man. Golota knew that he was outmatched by Tyson. He knew he was hurt at the end of the first round. He stated between rounds to "stop the fight." I suppose these alleged true "sportsmen" would rather have seen Golota leave the ring by stretcher and possibly wind up brain damaged or in a wheelchair, then they could feel that they got their monies worth. Some sportsmanship indeed.
Golota KNEW his face was broken, and there was major damage. He protected himself!
Every one or two punches and comes the ref to stop…noob boxer!
Голота писюн…
Yeah you get hit like that and stay in there I don’t blame him.
I wouldn’t have gotten up from the first bomb he took.
Golota suffered a broken bone in his face that was the reason he quit sometime the crowd is just plain cruel man he was good fighter but tyson is fucking terrifying sometimes the best thing for fighter is quit so he can continue later if would have continued he could have ender his career right there but people don't understand that they just abandoned him that is sad man
He suffered a neck injury and a concussion he made the right decision
I do not blame Golota a bit for not coming out in round three. Quite possibly Tyson knocked one of Golota's teeth out which might cause incredible pain. We don't know Golota's true condition after round 2 and he may have justifiably believe he was entering a phase which might cause permanent damage. It didn't LOOK good to not come out but he protected his long term health. Look at Ali vs George Forman. Ali was the greatest but look at him in his later years. George is happily selling grills. Mike was going to Kill Goleta. It looked bad, but Goleta made the right decision.
