Sports minister Stuart Andrew brings forward the governments proposals to introduce an independent regulator to English football.

The new regulator will examine the way the English game is run from top to bottom. Checks for owners of clubs, suitability and source of owners funds. Fans will get a greater say in the running of their clubs, along with a number of other regulatory policy changes.

  1. Government can't regulate its self its like asking an arsonist to regulate the fire brigade

  2. This very good for football just cut wages and everyone get same budget then leagues would be so much exciting

  3. Everyone in UK is afraid of what Manchester United will become when Qataris take over now using politicians to stop that but what a shame.. you can't stop what God has made how can a whole parliament make a law for just one club total shambols

  4. People working and still having to go to food banks. Football ticket prices are the least of the problem. Pay increases to keep up with inflation might be more effective.

  5. Lets hope this stops sportwashing countries buy in to clubs, like S Arabia and Qatar, amongst others.

  6. A regulator would be a great thing for English football. It would mean that owners would be better as they would be more carefully checked and it would mean that fans would have more say.

  7. So the government want to intervine and destroy the EPL! This will actually accelerate the formation of the European Super League. This is no good for the English game! I hope other big clubs around Europe go ahead and form this Super League monster and leave the EPL behind!

  8. If Todd boehly thinks he can run chelsea fc like his business in the US, he should think again. We, the fans, would soon have a say how our clubs are being run.

  9. Looks like they masked the strike against Super league as Regulatory control 🙂

Independent regulator is far easier to manipulate and used selectively as a shield to some and a bat to others

  10. Football can be fun.
I support Aberdeen FC in Scotland.
I also support Holywell Town in Wales.
    Thanks.
