Could you also shut the face, turn it in, at set up and accomplish the same thing?
Hey Matt, tell you what’s weird …..my contact point is exactly the spot you’re talking about and it FEELS like it’s coming off closer to the toe.
I've spent the early part of this season fighting this very problem. Hitting the irons off center/toe. I was taking the club back too far inside.
Welp got a new thing to try Thursday at the range lol
I loave this approach. I've been told what you are explaining. Good to see it in a drill and detailed explanation.
Wait. What? "Just because it rhymes doesn't make it true."? Well, like, how can I tell if something is true?
I guess I need to find another excuse why I suck, because that’s where I hit my wedges…
I have a set of Mizuno Mp-37 and all of the feedback from those clubs is the sweet-spot is closer to the heel vs the middle. Thnks for explaining what this means..
Something in my game will not allow me to hit irons near the heel! Ive tried moving the dang near to my feet and then I'll just rotate and come over the ball and still strike off the toe! Lol
Are you using the same grip as a typical iron or are you more neutral?
“Just because something rhymes, that doesn’t mean it’s right.” Absolutely true, advice from you!
Does this work in reverse. I fight heel shots often. If I feel the club face open, will I catch it closer to the toe at impact?
Thx, MSG! I tried it this afternoon and it added 5-10 yards to my pitch distances. Gonna have to recalibrate the old distance clock and edit my yardage book.
Money invested is far better than Money saved. When you invest your money it works for you And help you bring more money back to you
This is Great advice! Question though. Is the handshake thing just a feel? When are swinging and releasing through the ball I cannot see that handshake. I understand the speed of the swing but it appears your right hand has overtaken your left hand before they appear on your left side. And higher than your handshake position. I will definitely be trying this!

How about on long irons?
MSG I would like to see you shorten your finish…. Just a bit but you were off balance on those first 3-4 swings.
That’s why your Mr. Short Game…. You’re the best….thanks for the lesson…Aloha.
You said what I’ve always felt was true but was told was wrong.
Great explanation with expectation…hey that kinda rhymes. Good stuff Matt
Thank you I'll try it
You are crazy as hell!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I feel like this video should be taken with a grain of salt, I believe most modern wedges have deliberate weight allocation to help move the CG closer to the middle. In some case, like “game improvement” wedges they do have a CG at center. I think this advice and the drills all still rings true though.
