Even the best PGA Tour players miss six greens per round. That means they have to be good chippers of the ball. You and I are missing more than six greens per round, so we also need to work on our chipping. And that’s what we’re going to do today.
Here’s the great news with the Q: regardless of your your proficiency in chipping; regardless of your skill level you’re going to be able to find a loft setting that works for you for each and every chip.
Let’s head over to practice putting green, where we’ll take a standard chip below the green surface and hit it three different ways with three different loft settings.
(1) 58 Degree Standard Chip
To highlight the Q’s versatility around the greens we’ll use a 20 yards chip shot below the green surface with 10 yards of fringe to navigate. First, let’s try a standard chip using the Q’s 58 degree loft setting.
With a 39 inch shaft I recommend standing closer to the ball, with your feet together, and gripping down to hand position 3. The goal with the standard chip is to carry the ball a few feet onto the green and let it roll the rest of the way like a putt.
(2) 11 Degree Bump and Run
The bump and run is also great option for this kind of chip. If you feel more confident rolling the ball the entire way like a putt, adjust the Q to the 11 degree ‘Stinger’ setting. Use the same setup as a standard chip.
The extra loft of the stinger setting, compared to the putter setting, helps life the ball at impact on top of the fringe to encourage a smoother roll. Depending on the grass you might also experiment with the 17 degree ‘Hybrid’ setting.
(3) 64 Degree Lob Shot
To fly the ball further on the green, adjust the Q to the 64 degree “Lob Wedge” setting. I like to set up standard, move my trail foot back a little, and swing in to out. This help to avoid flipping at the ball to try and help it in to the air. A lob shot will fly further, land softer, and trickle up to the hole.
As you can see, Q’s innovative sole design allows you to access the desired amount of bounce for any chip you face around the green. The best part is you won’t have to go back to your cart to make up your mind.

My Q club is on the way! Can’t wait to test this product on the range the first week of use 👌🏻
I also noticed your wrist position for both the 58 and 64 was set to close the face down and take out some of the bounce. Is that correct? Can’t wait to see 50 yard shots
I ordered my Q Club last night on the strength of Mr. Short Game's review.
It's exciting seeing the very beginning of this product in the market. Thanks so much for all of your great work!
