Chelsea are set to push for a £1.5bn rebuild of Stamford Bridge.

John Cross and Jonathan Liew discussed the options that would be available for Todd Bohely’s club.

Under Roman Abramovich’s ownership, Chelsea announced they had put plans for a new stadium on hold.

The club were given the go-ahead to start work on their new 60,000-capacity stadium by Hammersmith and Fulham council but plans were shelved in May of 2018.

  1. For goodness sake tell this Jonathan guy to do some homework:

    • Boehly does NOT own/run the Dodgers. He owns less that 5% of the Dodgers. He does own 20+% of the Lakers.

    • As such he had NOTHING to do with the Dodger Stadium ‘upgrades’ (it was not a rebuild)

    • Dodger Stadium added a fan zone outside centerfield in an existing parking lot. They own all the land around the stadium since 1959 so there was nothing to negotiate other build into a parking lot.

    • Dodgers Stadium addition would be like adding fan zone of pubs where the existing Stamford Bridge hotels are on back side of the Shed End.

    • PS capacity at Stamford Bridge is 40,000 for most events as they block out seats to segregate away supporters.

    Do some homework.

  2. If they're able to do this, they'll have the best stadium in the league…

    In the Championship!

  3. notice how when the fans start turning on Boehly for having a bum coach he opens up his wallet

  4. It was confirmed a while back that all the plans of Stamford Bridge rebuild had been finalised during Abramovich's time and the only reason it didn't start then was because UK govt delayed his visa extension. So I don't understand all this talk now about how work still needs to be done. Cost was £1bn even at that time so it going up is understandable, but what's with making it seem like it all needs to start from scratch?

  5. Clueless as usual first listen to the fans Mr.Toed Boel you don't know football you're the problem you're a specialist in failure Jose mourihno was right

  6. If Potter is still manager than the capacity might as well should be capped at 5,000

  7. Rip garbage clueless potter Rip garbage clueless Boyle welcome to Chelsea Luis Enrique welcome to Chelsea QSI

  8. Chelsea are currently 9th this season in terms of average attendance in the Premier League at 39,000.. That is scarily low for a club of that size, they badly need a new, bigger stadium..

They could easily fill a 65,000+ stadium.. They’re missing out on so much money by not investing in the facilities. Chelsea should of done all of this years ago..

  9. You should buy the stadium first . Spending 1.5 b on something you don't own it s brazy

  10. tomorrow, Wall Street will fall due to Blackstone's insolvency. Goldstein's plans could change.

  11. I remember since 2009 we heard about it but it never actually materialized till today and wonder the lack of passion in Abramovich era to rebuild Stamford Bridge. I think Todd Boehly is the man.
