Great video. I think less head movement is best
Kyle and Bryson were in the long drive contest on those clips and only one thing matters.
I’m sure Bryson’s head will be much more still on a par 5 with a narrow fairway and water to the right
Rotate around the C7 and let the head do whatever it needs to stay athletic, fluid and fast. At the end of the day we master the skill of whipping the club head through impact. Perfect positions during the backswing aren't critical and pros vary dramatically.
Henrik Stenson, for example, moves his entire body, including his head over to his trail side to trigger his takeaway. That works/worked for him. It may not work for everyone as more than minimal head moment is just another variable added to the golf swing. Joaquin Niemann is another who incorporates a ton of side bend through impact, resulting in extreme head drop/movement. The same with Sahith Theegala.
The whole idea that the head going down as part of the squat move is supposed to be bad, I reckon is obsolete. I remember all the commentators giving Tiger negative comments even in his prime for that reason. It's a power move, a big one at that. The more you squat (within reason) the more "free" power you can get from the vertical jump. Very difficult to accomplish if your head is not part of the equation. Yes, it may make it slightly harder to nail the dead centre of the club face every time but that dynamic move is worth it in my opinion, even for amateurs. The "drop and pop" also helps rotating through.
What do you think of the Annika Sörenstam and David Duval head movement to follow the ball?
