Rebels Lee Westwood and Ian Poulter have taken aim claiming it ‘sounds very similar’ to the Saudi-backed series. The PGA Tour has been ridiculed by Lee Westwood and Ian Poulter after a revamp of next season’s events left it open to accusations of copying LIV’s format.

Jay Monahan tour commissioner informed players on Wednesday that from 2024 their ‘designated’ tournaments, introduced this season as a lucrative response to the threat of the LIV circuit, will feature reduced fields of 70-80 players with no cuts.

The LIV jokers are only mad because they left the PGA Tour a year to early! Now LIV is struggling, and we’re starting to hear guys want to comeback!
Better rub that egg of your Face RORY, besides how does it feel to be thrown under the bus.
The European ( DP World:) tour has been left behind in all this. They should be forming a strategic alliance with LIV to offer their players a chance to earn world ranking points. This would benefit existing euro players by strengthening the fields and thereby increasing the ranking points on offer. Maybe this would also increase sponsorship/ prize money on a tour which is now very much a poor relation. I don’t think LIV is destroying golf , I think the PGA tour is.

So basically exhibition tournaments? They had a think and though if we dont introduce not cut tournaments Tiger Woods wouldnt be around for the final 2 rounds 75% of the time and the viewing figures and attendance would tumble.
Rory look around you on the course even if you were winning on the nazi tour you wouldn’t be even close to beating the best in the world. The nazi tour is full of2nd rate up comers I certainly hope that if you were to win on the nazi tour you wouldn’t be acting like a world beater. EVERYONE knows where the world’s top players are competing. PERIOD. The crap the nazis are putting on the course is 3rd rate at best.
You maybe make a point for sponsors paying and such, but the reality is most people are only really following about 20 to 40 players on the PGA tour. How about when the top players take an event off – then you are stuck with a bunch of virtual no namers for the week. Same a bit on LIV in that most are watching to see the top 10 or 20 – not old euros or guys like Wolff. Not a fan of LIV – who got you there – you all would be nothing without the PGA – not saying PGA has done everything right or perfect, but…

I've always been a great PGA Tour guy….but the PGA Tour handled this sooooo badly & now with this anything the PGA guys said about LIV (not that it was good arguments) is totally out the window!!!! So it really is about the Money Money Money and of course it was!!! I want both of these 2 tours to co-exist!!!
Have people forgot jack nicklaus and Arnold palmer did the same to the usga as liv golf are doing to the pga by breaking away and forming the pga

They for sure copied them but they did it alot better. Playing your way into a no cut event is different than just being in a no cut event.
Rory's head down there is actually thinking for himself that's why he's sounding all BS to LIV. I pitty this guy… very obvious now Rory is DESPERATE !!!! He is showing the world he has lost his class as a great champion. Non-stop bashing and sour graping of LIV. His behaviour is un-becoming of a well deserved champion. He should chat with his golf idols like Jack N. and Gary P. perhaps they can woke him up……Too bad and it's indeed embarrassing that he perhaps don't know GOLF's history the very game that feeds him. Rory needs to be reminded that GOLF legends like Jack Nicklaus, Gary Player, Arnold Palmer, Lee Trevino and their other mates who way back then played tournaments under the PGA of America (founded in 1916) in 1960 began the process of breaking away and in 1975 the organization they created achieved full independence from the PGA of America and was named the "PGA Tour." The coming of LIV is no different. More Golf is better.
LIV- no thanks, i am not interested at all. There are reasons why you have match play or 4 round tournaments. You end up with the best players winning. Sorry- i guess i am just old fashioned.

Sounds like you're pro LIV here, Alex. Let's not forget that LIV has the unshakeable backdrop of blood money and sports washing. Let's also not forget that LIV has become the pro-Trump, election denying, MAGA tour. There's a lot to dislike about LIV so you might want to be careful here not to alienate the more pro PGA followers you have.
The difference is that the field for the PGA events has to top 50 which changes and then 25 spots to others. So there is the drive to get to the top 50 to ensure selection for these premium events.
There is nothing original about LiV . 54 holes no cut isn't either it is call the Champions tour fyi.
Simple LIV should die
I thought the designated events with over 3 million for the winners were a good move from the PGA Tour, but they've ruined it with the limited field and no cut.
I visit half a dozen tour events per year, I like to go on the Thurs or Fri when I can see all the field playing. Removing the cut takes away the excitment of those first 2 rounds.
Bad play should make players feel vulnerable that they're not going to make the weekend. Now we have a closed shop, which is what I hate about LIV.
Rory was happy to take the appearance money to play the HSBC in Dubai for many years, so he's being hypocritical (and so are the media) by pointing out the dark money that funds LIV.
Lol…none of the LIV golfers would have even made the cut at Bayhill this weekend. There are no "top players in the world" on LiV exhibition tour golf. Sit down Greg Norman.
