A 12-year-old girl is taking her golf game to the national level after she qualified for the competition that’s going to be held at The Masters next month in Augusta, Georgia.

Kate Ly qualified for the Drive, Chip and Putt National Finals by beating out other kids her age in the Portland area and across the Pacific Northwest.

Ly said she’s getting close to being able to drive the ball nearly 200 yards. She’s only been playing for the last three years, and gets lessons every other week.

She said she really started getting into golf after watching her sister, who plays at Portland’s Cleveland High School. Ly said her goal is to someday play professionally.
