How do you avoid tensing up? My practice swing always feels miles quicker than actual swing. It's all tension!
Watched LIV at Mayacoba this weekend. Even the best of the best players in the field said they had to be very accurate with their drivers otherwise they would be punished right away. Havent seen more narrow fw before.
How important is putting the heel down? I tend to lose the club head on the back swing, can't hit a clean drive, except when I really concentrate on keeping the heel down, but i can smash a 3 wood every time
Solid content Andy – well described and demonstrated as always.
Bet you're not that glad to be back in the UK with its tropical weather LOL – at least you've got the sense to wrap up properly.
Cheers
Great video Andy,a few of those points I tend to forget. Especially not swaying past the right foot.
Would like to hear your opinion about this. Played golf for 6 years, 9hcp. Can handle my long irons. Average 205 yds with my 3i. Titleist 981…very old i know. So thats what i tee of with. But never been able to handle the big stick. What do you think is the most forgiving driver on the market to start of with?
Yesterday my drives hit every fairway today I started with a 20y slice then a top then a 40y slice then I left the driver in the bag so I’m going to the range tomorrow, consistency doesn’t exist with my driving but I will keep trying 👍.
Great tips Andy! The one that really clicked for me was the width of stance. I was always told "feet shoulder width apart" but not the bit about shoulder's inside of the feet, i.e., a very wide stance. I will definitely put the tips to use at my next range session.
What driver you using Andy ? Many thanks
👍👌
Best driver shorty on the tube. Thank you, Carter.
The tee before the ball is good but the tee after the ball helped me to hit up on it. This is great though!
This vid is packed with gold. Thanks Carter.
Another great video with great tips I shall try on the range tomorrow Andy. Is there a process for stopping the left heel from lifting and twisting off the ground during my back swing? I swear Elvis has nothing on me when I am using the driver!
Guilty as charged, of over-tilting. Thanks for the fix.
Great tips, but what about us seniors with dodgy joints and knee replacements any advice. There are not many you tube videos for us to improve. So your mission should you accept it please can you help!.
I believe I have been over tilting setup based on your demonstration.
Exactly how I set up. My problem is the turn and weight shift and timing it properly. It ends up almost all arms and say good by to distance. Thanks Andy
Thanks Andy, a timely reminder as I do tend to over tilt spine angle 👍🏻🇦🇺
Thanks for braving the cold and providing us with some top notch knowledge on driver setup.
Andy. When we adjust our body tilt the club face closes to the path. Should we adjust our alignment to correct face path at impact?
Thanks Andy, looking forward to trying this out tomorrow!!👍💪
Awesome tips! I’ve been tilting too much at setup. Can you do a “Part 2” where you cover the fine points of the downswing and finish? (path, clubface, impact, release)
Off to the range I go
Well that was interesting. Very simple ideal for me. Now off to try that out thanks Andy.
So simple yet so damn hard thank god driving is my strong point it’s them wedges that kill me 😂😂😮
Brilliant tip Andy as driver is weakest part of my game and costs me 5 – 6 shots per round. I’ll try this out and see where it takes me, thank you 👍
I deliberately don't carry a driver in the bag because i had a horrific slice with it. tee off on par 5s with a hybrid or 4 iron. this video has given me confidence to try the driver again! shouldn't have thrown it out in the house move!! (it was a package set off a mate that's about 30 years old so probably wouldn't be any good anyway!)
Thanks for your quick tips! My life will change this season and my hcp growing to plus! But you know, drive is only for show, put (short game) instead for money…..
By the way to the theme "life changing" and "show"… You promised me a new set of blades, a Newport putter and a pair of fj classics…. I wait since days for the message from you that the package is ready. How long shall I still wait?
Have a good time! And practice short game with Matt!
There are a million driver set-up videos out there. They tend to be general high-level, and subject to misinterpretation. This video is full of the details you really need, that those others are missing… Well done Carter!
Great video carter. I'm really trying to focus on getting set up nailed down to provide the foundation of eventually a good swing, top man, long term subscriber and slicer 😂
would love your thoughts on adapting for a "fairway finder" that we can use on narrow holes or the first tee, or when under a little pressure.
Will pay more attention to my set up after that simple non fulueton style demo Andy.. have changed my grip and a few little things this past year that has gotten rid of the vast majority of a slice and given me a hell of a lot more confidence over narrow drives but need to work or concentrate more on the transfer of weight to gain a few extra yards… bit by bit I suppose and getting it all together on the day.. best of luck for the year 🙂
Andy this is seriously a huge help. THANK YOU! I’ve been waiting for someone like you, Matt, or Pete to post something like this. Over tilt is def something I’ve struggled w/. But only w/driver or 3W off the tee. No other clubs. This was great!!!
Great video. When you slide club forward where do you keep butt of club aiming please, belly/sternum ot? Thanks and knowing you are a red ✌️👍👍👍👍😄
Fantastic explanation Andy, I have been topping the driver quite a bit recently, hope this will help 🤞
Brilliant, especially the spine tilt tip……..probably my biggest flaw is the over tilt you mention! Can't wait to get out on the range / course to try this…………alas, winter hasn't loosened its grip here as yet!
Thanks Andy, really been struggling with my driver. Gonna try this and hope for some improvement and consistency. By the way pleeeeeeeeeeese give me a job! Film maker, Musician and Fanatical Golfer.
These are very simple, but very necessary, tips. Thank you, Andy. You’re basically “giving permission” for us not to tilt to the point of absurdity.
