Casey Stoner, a two-time world champion, says he’s “missed Valentino Rossi at the front” in recent MotoGP races and believes the battle could have been “incredible” if he was still competitive.
The renownedly quiet and media-averse Stoner, who won two MotoGP World Championships with Ducati (2007) and Honda (2012) before ending it a career at the age of 27, is regarded as one of the greatest MotoGP riders of the modern era.
However, during the short moment he raced at the top, Stoner and Rossi established a simmering rivalry that extended both on and off the track. Their thrilling battle at the 2008 United States Grand Prix at Laguna Seca is commonly quoted as the pinnacle of their rivalry.
