  1. Didn't even know LIV was on and I don't have CW. Not using YT/Social Media Streaming is a huge loss.

  2. What is the requirement to join LIV golf….. to be a pro on the PGA?… if so that makes it exclusive…. I am confused….

  3. I'm now 68 years old, over my golfing life I've won 12 Provincial Championships (in Atlantic Canada) and played to low digit Index all my life. The secret of my success is Short Game. Getting up and down is key to scoring. It also helps to keep the ball in play off the tee. The last five years I've played exclusively with Hickory Golf Clubs and despite the shorter length off the tee, I won three of those Provincial Championships against players using modern clubs. Again keep it in play and get up and down is the secret. Simple. Haha And have fun, don't take it too seriously. Cheers from New Brunswick Canada

  4. Rick you should test the Penfold Heart and Ace Golf Balls. They're not on the approved list yet but they're the modern version of a classic golf ball.

  5. Interesting times in the Golf world. I am more disconnected to Pro Golf than ever. No one really cares or remembers who wins anything else than the 4 majors.
I would love to see 4 rounds of 14 holes played over 2 days eg Sat and Sunday. Golf needs to be 14 holes and should be able to played in 2hrs – then we have a new exciting fast moving sport – 120mins / 14 holes = 8.5 mins per hole. Its time to get this sport moving. Could also make it mixed pairs, what about limiting the number of clubs eg 7 clubs. Just some thoughts.

  6. Can’t disagree with you guys….but, I think the actual issue isn’t that they aren’t playing for anything meaningful…it’s more about selling the personalities…for football, you follow because of your home town, or a certain player…but golf is different. It’s a bunch of individuals. There is no home and away game concept…so, the only thing golf has to sell are the players. The golf this past weekend was absolutely awesome coming down the stretch, but just like you guys, I couldn’t get into it for most of the weekend since the tour didn’t sell me on watching anyone. If you really think about it, watching it on tv, almost every player from 1-150 swings pretty much the same…around the same distances with some outliers, and aren’t wearing outlandish outfits or have a stand out personality…so most people watching golf on a given weekend couldn’t tell the difference between the #1 player in the world from #150 if they never watched golf before…Tiger was the only exception to that in the last 50 years…Think about John Rahm. If he was #150 in the world, people would say, “Yeah, look at that swing. It sucks. Of course he’s #150.” The distinctions are so minute, that unless you follow golf closely, you don’t notice…so, the Tour, and golf in general, needs to learn how to sell their product (the players) better….

  7. Thats such a great way of looking at it, I havnt done my official handicap but I estimate I'm somewhere in the neighborhood of 18-22.
Keeping that in mind gives me a whole different outlook, maybe not that I'll be a scratch golfer one day (because definitely not that talented) but that maybe if I can round out my game and start to avoid some of the triples and doubles bogeys, I can be fairly competitive

  8. It's hard being a fan of these LIV teams because they're made up and aren't tied to anything. Random AF. Its not like its the London Loonies or the New York Stingers. The Ryder cup is great because it's national.

  9. It's very simple…Any true golf fan who watches true tournament golf, I suspect, will find LIV golf not worth watching simply because it lacks all the dramatic elements that make tournament golf exciting and worth the time to watch.

  10. So is Dbag Rick going to stop watching the PGA as it is now LIV 2.0?

  11. For me, there is no battle for 1st place. I mean the last two people on the tee time sheet, battling it out, while someone finished an hour before, shot a low round waiting to see if they tie or win. There is a lot of pressure coming home in the last group and I love that. For instance, take the 2022 PGA golf championship when Justin Thompson came back from behind and waited for that last group to bring it home. There is drama and it's great tv.

  12. On the Liv topic, we need to keep in mind the 2nd season just started. It is still in its infancy. I don't mind Liv, but comparing it to the PGA is comparing apples to oranges imo

  13. We resist change …. And change in any environment where the landscape is a MONOPOLY can only end up better. Give it time

  14. The comment may well have been made below but you can’t compare LIV golf teams with football teams and national teams for the simple reason that they’re not territorial based. It doesn’t matter the history that LIV have, they’ll never be a tribal reason to follow a LIV team. It’s the same with Formula 1. The only teams that get proper following are teams that are push their national identity/affiliation. Very few people support just a team because they love the company behind them. Instead, they follow them because they feel as though they have some connection to their identity. That will never happen with a LIV golf team.

  15. yeh im off 12 HC, almost shot my first round in the 70s last week. But i double boggey the 9th and the 17th which killed it. My round had 2 birdies also. Best score still is an 83.

  16. With respect to Guy's comment (7:00) about feeling like winning a LIV golf tournament not "meaning anything", I kinda get what he's saying because it's not like on the PGA tour where they're trying to keep their card so they have a job in the future (which is is what winning a tour event provides). Since (just about) all the golfers on the LIV tour have already been "prepaid' with (sometimes enormous) contract money, it may feel like winning a tournament holds less meaning, but c'mon, they're still professionals and winning a tournament still means a great deal to them regardless of how much they get paid (I'm sure Charles Howell III is not going to give back any part of the $4M prize money anytime soon! 😆) They still are athletes who are competing at the highest level of their sport. They are playing for pride and respect as well. Even though LIV may be designed to be more of a golf show (as Bill Mahar posted) or a "staged" golf event, much like Capital One's "The Match" is, for me, it's still fun to watch although I enjoy watching LIV over watching "The Match".

  17. I think Guy really hit on the crux of the issue with LIV at this stage. Whether it’s the team format or the individual lineup, LIV doesn’t have a true through line that holds everything together. Maybe down the line once it develops its own history and following, but right now it’s just the off brand tour that doesn’t match the quality of the name brand PGA tour.

  18. The golfers that took the cash will fade away slowly with liv golf and the new stars on the PGA tour will take there place. I would rather watch paint dry than watch liv as there is no excitement in it for me.

  19. I love how much effort PGA fans and pundits put into complaining about the differences in LIV as destroying the fabric of golf only to see PGA institute the same changes a month later.

  20. Liv playing less golf: 14 Liv Events, 4 majors plus they are all contracted to play 4 Asian tour events. That’s 22 tournaments pretty much the same as what they were playing before.

  21. LIV was fun at first because it was new and a fresh but now the events seem meaningless. Let’s see how their majors fare.

  22. Liv Golf for me is a bit like the Good Good majors, its light entertainment vs a meaningful competition. The key events like the Masters, Open etc appeal because its the best golfers in the world, also because it has prestige though history, but also because underdogs can come good and win the crowd. Liv just doesn't have that. The Ryder cup is different again, but the history and the US Europe vibe makes that special. Liv lacks that special something.

  23. Thought i would like the concept of LIV but can’t get in to it. Turned it off after 10 mins 🥱 miles off the PGA

  24. In my opinion by far the biggest difference between pros and amateurs is scrambling… pros hit more greens and when they do miss a green they get it up and down from all over the place

  25. I work with another players' assistant at our par 72 course in central PA who is now 79. For the last 4-5 years he consistently shoots under his age. His current handicap is 4. For a VERY interesting interview with Arnold Palmer by Peter Kessler talking about the one time he shot under his age, just do an online search.

  26. Had no idea that there was a LIV event on last week. Not that I would have bothered with it.
