  1. You hit it on the head, Matt. Golfers don’t get paid sponsorships because they’re awesome golfers, they get paid because of the exposure they provide for the brand. That exposure comes if they’re members in good standing who play on a tour watched by a lot of people who buy equipment, apparel, cars, watches, and services. The PGA Tour provides that exposure, and has a proven track record of doing so for brands. LIV doesn’t, at least for now. Golf is an individual sport, but the PGA Tour and its membership provide a platform for their members to make money away from the course. Phil, DJ, Sergio, Bryson, and others are getting paid by LIV, but they have no value outside of LIV from a branding standpoint. If it’s just a dollar for dollar in the pocket, transactional calculation, most LIV golfers are well ahead of where they’d be had they stayed on the Tour, especially the older guys and the guys prone to injury. But nobody should expect brands to give them money for playing on a tour that nobody watches.

  2. LIV didn't flow very well not because the shotgun start but because the commentators didn't do a good job of a threat assessment of each players remaining holes. If they get that right it will make a big difference. The team final was very good to watch IMO. They also need to make more use of Troy Mullins as she was great on air. Golf channel really missed out bigtime by not signing her.

  3. Justin Rose signing for TGL is very strange to me . He has move home full time back to England . Is he going to fly over for every Monday? Another thing is how the wagering will work as this is computer generated and insanely highly regulated as not live action shot . Would certainly bring a different approach . Maybe bringing it to kids ( Rory ) and gambling ( Tiger ) are not best pushed in same minute .

  4. Is it just me but this could turn out like the New Cole campaign from the 1980s. Whether or not one like LIV or not, no one could deny that the PGA Tour is better TMRW is new and LIV provides a different viewer and player experience. It is definitely better for golfers. All that is needed is for OWGR to live up to its name and for there to be a PGA / LIV competition at the end of the year with a $50 purse with no commitment necessary from PGA golfers.

  5. Funny when Tiger/PGA talks about team competition and wagering it’s interesting and exciting but when LIV does the same thing it’s boring and isn’t traditional.
The hypocrisy is in full force.

  6. Thomas Peter's to LIV. I predicted European tour would lose all their best players to the pgat.
#35 Goes to LIV, he's one of their best Ryder cuppers.
Golf fans have stopped watching the pgat, they sure aren't going to be watching this mickey mouse crap !

  7. Matt: You appear compromised. Have the Arabians reached you? You are strenuously always making LIV arguments for them and always hanging the PGA to dry. Let the young man talk and render his opinion, please. Stop choking him!
