This is a MAJOR win for LIV golf and this could be the start of what we see as the new look professional golf tours! I would definitely say that the PGA tour players will feel so betrayed by the USPGA. Alex Elliott is breaking this news to you! i see this as a MAJOR win for the LIV golf tour
This doesn’t mean all LIV golf players will be able to play as they will still have to qualify or meet the exception criteria. The news comes just 24 hours after LIV Golf players were informed they will not be banned from this year’s Open Championship at Royal Liverpool. We still Don’t know if we will see Phill Mickelson at this after he was a past winner don’t forget!! The CEO Seth Waugh said at last year’s US PGA Championship that players banned or suspended by the PGA Tour would “likely lose” their PGA of America privileges going forwards. But has now gone back on this allowing qualifying LIV tour players to be able to play in the major championship. In golf we have 4 major championships, the masters, the open, the USPGA and the US Open. This will mean huge players like brooks Koepka and cameron smith will be able to play. I see this as that PGA Tour players have been BETRAYED…MAJOR WIN FOR LIV!

My position has been I really believed these pros were independent contractors & I’m a PGA guy but they should be able to play where they like…….& the Majors should have the absolute best Field noooo matter!!!!! Good stuff ⛳️⛳️

My take on this IMHO is that the LIV golfers are being backed by someone who internationally is connected to despicable acts so for me I am against those who defected for money to play for them. That being out of the way and not taking that into account,here are my reasons for them not playing PGA events outside of an OPEN event because the format itself says it’s open to any qualifier. For the balance of the PGA events once a player has defected I feel he gives up his right to play any other PGA events. As to the OWGR why would you give points to players who only play 54 holes not 72. Are you now going to record PGA points at the finish of Saturday play? Another point is,are the PGA players going to be able to play LIV events for the big cash as long as they play the required PGA events to maintain their card?
I know some people think without the LIV golfers it’s not the same on the PGA but the way I look at it is them being gone makes room for new golfers coming up. I don’t feel LIV golfers should be able to have their cake and eat it too. Make your choice and take the consequences
Im not for against LIV but the PGA keeps saying they have the best players. I say, let’s see. You can’t say you have the best players if every golfer can’t play. You can’t cherry pick. Prove it.

Nothing new here. Any player who won a major is eligible for the majors according to each events rules whether they are liv or pga

What LIV is doing to the USPGA now, is EXACTLY what the US circuit did to the Australian PGA tour in the 1980s. Some of us have LOOONG memories.
If not for LiV, the PGA purses would not have jumped like they are , the tour needs to actually thank LIV

Good and so they should. The PGA shouldn’t have a monopoly on the sport. Just like fifa shouldn’t in football.
Let’s forget all the childish technicalities and just let anybody play the game of golf together regardless of where they are coming from. This time all the deliberation comes to an end and everybody just excepts everybody whether you have one or 10 governing bodies in the game of golf.

I've nothing against LIV Golf, but apart from the cash, all those players are wasting their time playing second-rate courses in exhibition matches, in a series that doesn't have an audience.
It’s not the host of the Masters problem, it’s the PGA tour to step up against LIV if players have left the PGA. The ranking system I have an issue with as the comparisons are not valid
Let them play but make them donate some of their prize money to charity to help support disabled and young golfers.

Majors were never an issue. I don't recall anyone saying anything else. They have specific entry requirements, in fact two are called 'Open' events. Anyone within criteria can qualify regarding of the tour they are on. Mountain out of molehill.
It no longer should be called world rankings … it should be called the pga tour ranking
The only time LIV players should get OWGR ranking points is when they play 72 hole tournaments with a meaningful cut, not 54 holes with little or no real cut. Got to be on a truly comparable basis. LIV can simply change their format if they desire their players to be in the rankings. Only then can meaningful comparisons be made,
It can’t happen regarding rankings unless the create their own , setting LIV and PGA aside the R&A are fully behind the PGA.
For me LIV will dissolve very soon , the Saudis have no goal or incentive , once they realise a revenue can’t match their outgoings it will pull backing LIV , they’re persistent at sports washing but failing miserably they are now focussing on property and travel as a viable replacement for income when oil diminishes

I do hope that in the future there will be an agreement, because in the end, golf is golf! We need no hate in the sport, well, we need no hate in the world. As humans we should put all the stuff to the side, live among each other… we have a war right now, let's not make golf politics and split the sport. I'm a huge fan of golf, not just LIV, PGA or DP, i'm just an avid fan, period. Let them play the Majors, let them shake hands at the end of the 18th hole, let's break the ice. You have Professionals in the Olympics. The PGA wants to promote diversity. I guess only if it suits their narrative. We all want to see the best players performing at their best against the best. PGA-LIV let's do what's best for the game!
Only a handful of guys you constantly mention from LIV that have any kind of influence which will in time (and they already have) fade.
Finally someone making some decent decisions. Liv players, are some of the best golfers in the world. They need to be included in the majors. The world ranking points system, is broken. Needs fixing or change it. An end of year tournament, between liv, pga and dp, of the top 12 players, should sort out the problem. Ryder Cup style. Fan's would love the team and head to head. Different location, every year.
If Cam Smith isn't allowed to defend his Open Championship I will never watch another one. Even amateurs who go thru qualifying can play regardless of affiliation.

Who is Sports Illustrated to create a world top 100 hundred other than to generate readership of their publication. The PGA of America runs the PGA Championship, not the PGA Tour. 2 separate organizations. Not news. Everyone that qualifies for the majors now and in the future will be playing in those events. Nobody will be excluded because they play on the LIV Tour.

It's hypocritical of PGA players to criticize LIV after the PGA Tour miraculously came up with bigger purses, new top-player playing requirements and new bonuses for the premier players. It only happened because of the LIV Tour. The LIV players were members in good standing having met the appearance requirements to retain their cards. I won't be surprised if LIV wins the lawsuit against the PGAT and expect WGR to also face restraint of trade lawsuits as well.
Actually you’re wrong. When Liv players migrated over they weren’t initially told they could’nt play the majors. That came later. Please fact check before you get on your soap box.
