In this video, I am joined by Titleist Golf Ball Expert and Fitter, Tom Hiscock who today will be taking me through the official Titleist fitting process used on all their players to find out which ball I should play in 2023. Have you ever been fitted for a golf ball before?

Thanks for watching, please comment on the video if you have time.

  1. Titleist Tru Feel for me. Good affordable all rounder 👍been using them for a year. I've noticed using the same ball no matter what ball has helped my game. Yardage, reaction etc.

  2. Always been the prov1 but I am going to look at the numbers when my new bats arrive 😁

  3. He said something really important in there about playing the same ball. Don't be one of those guys who switches their ball every round, you're introducing so many variables when doing this and it will be so hard to predict what the ball is going to do more so around and on the green. It doesn't matter what golf ball you're playing even if it doesn't fit you just make sure you're playing the same one over and over. Then with time you'll be able to say what you are missing out of the current golf ball you are playing.

  4. Ignoring the cost issue for a millisecond, the issue that I have always had with Titleist balls is that I get better numbers (like Dan) with the PROV1X but I hate its hard feel, Whereas I love the feel of the PROV1, but my numbers aren't as good. So you end up with an unsatisfactory decision/compromise, you either play the Ball with the better feel or the Ball with the better numbers.
But as I'm a poor pensioner I can't afford either Ball, so I end up playing the Ball that I find the most at my home Course🤦‍♂🤦‍♂

  5. Great comments about on course testing — always good to see the data but agree, seeing what happens on the course is paramount — not easy to do with fully booked tee sheets of course! Unfort that testing got me into the Bridgestone and away from the Pro V1 2 seasons ago now — but Titleist still makes a great ball! Thx Dan!

  6. For maybe 10 percent of players this type fitting works, to me for most amatuers they dont get much spin on shorter shots so most balls struck poorley are going to perfrom the same around the green, its more to do with distance probably for them.

  7. Hi Dan , first of all this is my favourite channel by far , so please don't think I'm slating this , but I'm a scratch golfer and my first thing I would do is putting, if the ball didn't feel right off the putter face I wouldn't use it , then I'd chip , pitch and then 7 iron , so I'm really surprised you didn't have a putt with them first , I love pro v golf balls , but hate the feel of the x off the putter …. have a great 2023 Dan and all the Team… jules 🏌️‍♂️⛳️👍

  8. The AVX is the most accurate ball ive ever hit. Sometimes less spin is bette toor. Its less side spinning ball too which deviates from your unwanted fades and draws. Plus is a softer ball, so you still get great greenside feels.

  9. Im so impressed with the calibre of all the Titleist staff , very impressive . No wow amazing claims just knowledge and information , great vlog Dan .

  10. I still have a couple of boxes 1988 vintage Dunlop 65is. I hit some of these to remind me how good almost all balls are now .. once I've regained the feeling in my fingers everything feels soft! Playing the same ball for a decent length of time is the main thing, I flip around between Titleist trufeel, Srixon AD333 or Bridgestone e6 or E12 but keep the same type for a year at least.

  11. Very interesting review Dan, I was fortunate enough to be in on the white box testing of the new Titleist golf balls that said I have played pro v1 for many years and after testing I may also be switching to the pro v 1x this year for the same reasons you demonstrated. I do prefer the feel of the pro v 1 though.

  12. I think Titliest premium balls are OK. I don't play any of them in the main although in the winter months I find I don't need as much spin so I have been known to use a Prov1x only because I found a few recently in good condition. I must admit they serve a purpose, greens in the winter are normally soft so stop is almost guaranteed. They do feel quite firm with the irons and the putter but that's not really a problem given that the greens are wet. In the summer months I play TM Tp5, because they feel like butter off the face of my irons and the spin into the greens is good for my game.. When it is breezy they don't go offline or at least I don't see them do that. I picked up on what Tom said about distance off the tee, they wouldn't sell many if they were getting shorter distances. How times change, the ball i used all the time back in the day was Titleist Tour Balata 100. I used to lose maybe 15-20 yards off the driver because they were so soft, but the shots into the greens was sublime, they dropped they stopped. Durability was a minus point though, they did oval after 9 holes. I think anymore than £35 for a dozen balls is robbery. I pay £35 for TM Tp5's, Titleist with their pricing has to change if they want to sell more balls in my opinion. Number 1 ball in golf doesn't make em the best ball in Golf. Good review Dan.

  13. Great insight don't test from a driver. I game the AVX i just prefer the feel i find the ProvX so clicky and the same can be said of The Z star and Chromesoft x

  14. This is why I love Titleist golf balls! every spring I fit myself for the season by trying 5 or 6 different balls on the course during the first month. I was a Pro V1 for years then 2 years ago I switched to the Pro V1x I almost went into a Bridgestone but it didn't have the durability Of Titleist!

  15. Dan, your desire to show the how’s and why’s with real data makes this part of your channel valuable to anyone looking to improve their game. Well done.

  16. Hi Dan, can you fitting some lower budget premium ball instead of high price premium ball? Can't afford to lost the ball.

  17. Your driver swing is slower here much better, not pushing it harder like on the course vlogs

  18. In the past I've played the Pro v1 and AVX as I was a high spinner especially with the driver (old Cobra). Currently still with the 2019 Pro V1 but will reconsider AVX. No mention in the test of if/when a new AVX is due.

  19. Great review. The key for me is to use the same ball, then you bring it back to strike. Further dialling into a specific brand/model as you game improves

  20. to the question of does the ball model matter? hmm….yes and no and probably mostly yes….case in point I've gamed the OnCore Elixr for a few years now, but when I go on holidays I like to try out different balls, and on a recent trip I played the TaylorMade Project(a), Wilson Triad and Sugar, and found that other than subtle nuances to each ball in relation to spin and feel, there was no issue adapting to them early in each round. I think most premo balls all play fairly similar these days…with the absolute exception of the Kirkland Signature and the Mizuno RB Tour, my goodness those things spin up so much they're almost uncontrollable

  21. Great review, Dan. I use the left dash and love the flat low spin flight. It typically yield very high ball speed versus the rest. 👍💯🙌🙌💪

  22. I think that all high grade balls are mostly the same but when it comes to putting that’s when you need feel and touch Callaway soft feel is the one for me I’m surprised that you did not do a putting test Whicker I think is more important than yards and spin
