7 wood every time!
Mark I have a 7 wood 9 wood 11 wood all mavrik I have been playing so much better since I put them in the bag and my playing partners all can’t believe how straight they are for me but I still get the people on a tee saying I can’t understand why you play them till we finish the round and I have beaten them haha keep up the good work thanks
I have always had trouble with hitting fairway woods off the deck (3,5 and even 7 woods) but recently been working with a teacher to finally "learn" how to hit them. That being said, I have a Stealth+ 5 wood set to 17 degrees with a slightly longer shaft (.25 inches longer than a stock 5 wood shaft) which makes it a slightly higher launching 4 wood and that has been incredible. I also have a 19 degree hybrid that I play around with that I swap in and out with a 2 iron/utility iron.
Great video, mark!
I got a 7 wood for Christmas, haven't hit it yet but excited to give it a try and seeing where it fits into my bag. I have a 5 wood, 3H and 4H so imagine it will fit in between the 3H and 4H
I bought a second-hand 7 wood last winter to deal with course conditions. It's stayed in my bag ever since. Now I have to try greenside shots with it
Lol I'll do you a couple better. I am older have a completely fused right wrist and have no speed. I have callaway 7,9 and 11 woods with ladies flex shafts. They are in the bag to stay. They just work…
I play 4 iron down because I just seem to hit the irons more consistently…
I do however have a 28° hybrid that gets used very rarely from those fluffy rough lies, or when I'm in trouble from a bad drive and need to easily move the ball forwards.
7 woods have been a massive topic. People love them. Isn't exactly a new found thing here
Put a XXio 7 wood in the bag a couple of years ago which gives good height and diastance. Never been a good hybrid player and dont like them, rather play a driving iron.
Got a 7 wood about 2 months ago, love it.
Thanks for the vid! Mark. Im impressed with your swing speed gain. Has that changed your witb? For example replacing your rinkey dinkey with a 4i? Curious. Thanks!
I tossed the hybrid for a 7 wood. Never looked back. More hits for me.
I have a 7 wood and love it.
Gave up on a 3W, can't launch it high enough. Have a 5W and a 7W, a 4H and 6H. They fit different situations and distances in my bag. 6i is the longest iron in my bag. Might try a 9W too!
Yup play a 7 wood , best most consistent club I have .
At 5min 20sec. Is that why hybrids don’t have flat faces? I’ve always wondered, please explain Mark!
I got a 7 wood last year for the first time and it’s one of the only times purchasing a new club actually had a big influence on my scores . I love it and will never not have one in my bag again . Good advice .
Ive just got myself a 3 and 4 g425 hybrids, now thinking i should of gone 5 and 7 woods instead, anybody want a swap?
Thanks for the interesting video Mark I'm definitely going to be hitting some 7w on my next trip into the fitters
I’ve never had a 3 wood before, just bought myself a tsr3 and it’s an absolute cheat stick!! I can’t see myself using my driver or hybrid again!! 😂
I bought a Callaway epic max 7 wood about 6 months ago from ebay and love it. So easy to launch from the deck but as you say off the tee it launches too high and I'm not getting the numbers I need from it. Time to look for a utility iron or hybrid to fill that gap.
Yep with the modern ball the 7 wood is the bandaid for that tricky area around 21 degrees where most people's irons dont' launch enough. Unless you hit the ball VERY high you should look at one.
1) 200 out, recon it would be yards, depending on wind and the lie either 4 or 5-iron.
I love my 7 wood. Off the tee, off the fairway, out of the rough or a fairway bunker near the green It just works. It changed my golf as I always struggled with long irons. I've lost count the amount of times Ive been asked what club I've just hit
I put a 7-wood in my bag for the '22 golf season and it quickly became my go-to club on Par 5s, long Par 4s, short Par 4s that need precise placement off the tee, and long Par 3s. Whether from the fairway, rough, off the tee, or even from the fairway bunker, my 7-wood quickly became my favorite club! As a +2 handicap, I receive lots of crazy looks when I mention the 7-wood until they see it in action!
I use a 20.5° hybrid, then I go to a 17.5° F6 Baffler. The Baffler is slightly smaller and shorter than most 7 woods.
My 5 wood is my favorite club in my bag. I can do anything with it.
I've taken my lower lofted hybrids out and prefer a 5 wood
I have an old ts2 seven wood, had to buy it with a ladies shaft and then get a shaft to suit separate, but well worth the trouble cus it’s ace, I carry a 3 wood and 4 iron and it fits in the middle perfectly. I like you mark remember my old junior 5 wood had about 20’ loft. So to me it’s a no brainer… launched hi, easy to hit and if I turn it over goes miles (proportionally). Cameron Smith, Tommy Fleetwood, Justin Johnson and many more been gaming a seven wood. My advise to all is give one a go 👍
Mark…with modern equipment & ball, I love to see the following set make-up: Driver / 4wood / 7wood / 4hyrbid / 5-PW / AW / SW / LW / Putter! (Pick whatever brand)! It gives the player, regardless of handicap, the most versatility in any situation, with multiple "tools" at their disposal!
I've been playing a 7 wood for years now. My logic was always that if a hybrid is meant to bring weight back from the face to help with launch and forgiveness in various lies, then wouldn't a fairway wood be doing the same thing, but even more? I shortened the shaft to be a bit more controllable since it's supposed to fill a gap, not max out distance, and it's my best club. I can hit it full 225, or I can chip it 180 and it still gets in the air enough to have stopping power. I can punch it low, I can shape it, it does everything. It's like a wedge for the 200 range
I've got a 7 wood it's quality!! out the ruff it cuts through and still gives you decent distance. I would advise anyone to get one 👍🏻
