Nice review , I guess like most golfers I wouldn’t fancy them in my bag as they just don’t fit my eye. I could play possibly down to a six hybrid but that would be as far as I would go.
If I got a set of those Elevens, I’m not sure I could take the peer group abuse and constant jibes about having a bag full of 3 woods and mallets 😂
Had the T-rail cobras for a while now and they are great
I am an older golfer 67, I have in the past used the Cleveland and Wilson irons like these, started out both times loving them but found myself with a case of the "lefts" I went back to the Ping 425's played them this entire year and find them easier to control and actually gained distance. I think companys now can make a more standard iron set that works just as well or better then the "hybird" sets. I do agree that these clubs can work to help improve some golfers games though. FYI I am a 12 hdcp.
They way I've been striking it I should play these 2 hahahaha
I took a friend's set of launchpad irons out for a round just to try them out. It turned out to be one of the most enjoyable rounds ever. Every shot just had me laughing at how easy the clubs were to use. A week later I swapped my PXG irons for a full set of launchpads. To give an idea of my game my driver ss is 112mph, handicap 9.2. after bagging the launchpads my handicap has dropped down to 6.9. The launchpads are definitely a conversation starter on the course and everyone is surprised when they have a go but unfortunately there is far too much ego in golf for them to make the switch. Love the clubs!
Interesting review boys maybe there is a lot in what you say about ego preventing people from using these irons as they were used for beginners in the past.
And agreed they are becoming used more in longer irons nowadays as they are easier to hit.
I have purchased a set of elevens and as set of Thomas hybrids to play around with and I love them. I did this because I loved my ping hybrids and toyed with the idea of buying pings from 2 to 7 but the cost was through the roof. I got the set of elevens 3 to wedge for 400 . I still swap around from irons to hybrid just because I love my taylormade 790 as well. Nobody has said anything to me about playing hybrids to be honest. In my opinion you play what works for you and if your getting good results on the course then that’s what puts a smile on your face. Lee the 8,9 and wedge works just as easy as the 6
Played with a good 4 hc player all his clubs were woods right down to the SW, I think the brand was Mazaki. Very straight and easy to hit.
In Highbridge was Zaki do them as well sand wedge, too 5 iron
Get lee back in course vlogs dont just leave him doing reviews
Dano Great vid. I have custom set up my own clubs going back to the 1990 area have always done that. I currently have my set which consists of sim2 heads 31 28 25 22 19 i shafted accordingly covers me from 140 to 200 yards then go to 8 iron up .I also have some Pinemeadow heads. (Amazon) that go from 46 down to 32 degrees shafted accordingly that I interchange with my shorter irons when it’s soggy turf. I ditched the ego a long time ago and I am a lower handicap for my age 72 but have outplayed most guys for years using this method heads have been around for years to jury rig IT WORKS Merry XMASS
I am a golfer that would benefit from these. However,,, long term appearance has always been a concern for me with hybrid irons. The paint chips like crazy, and while ego wouldn’t prevent me from using 14 head covers, it is just a logistical mess in the bag. Wilson is getting really close on the long term appearance by being mostly chrome/stainless, and if that black portion was a vulcanized rubber or plastic insert of some sort, they’d have a big winner. They already look better than any other brand of hybrid iron. I just can’t deal with paint chipping on the heads, it is a big deal breaker for me regardless of performance.
The earliest iteration of hybrid irons I can recall were, I believe, Spalding Executive XE…? There was a good local player back in the old days using them. He was routinely a target of sly looks and snickers on the first tee, until people saw how well he hit them. At the end of the round, snickers became legit questions respectfully asked. LOL
Seems like Lee would benefit from these clubs from 4-7, perhaps. Then go with a game improvement iron like the Srixon zx4 from 8-PW.
I’m bagging Callaway Apex UW’s in 17 & 21 degrees, Mizuno 923 Fli-Hi hybrids in 23 & 26 degrees, then the zx4 irons 8-PW. The hybrids and irons both have Modus 105 stiff shafts, and the hybrids are same length as the irons they replaced. Loving this set-up! I’m 55 and a 15 handicap.
Haven’t been able to play gol for 15 months for health reasons. Play off 19 so absolutely no ego. Hoping to start playing again early next year and I’m deffo going to look at hybrid or game improvement irons.
I’ve got the Wilson LP 3 W and 3 hybrid. Great clubs, do what it says on the tin, for me really like the LP range
Great clubs for me in winter where everything goes 100m or less! 😂
Great video which gets me thinking big time. As Im getting older will try to put ego in a box and have a try, unfortunately it’ll have to be when visiting uk but thought provoking
Fantastic – want to see these in Lee’s bag asap
Lots of positives for hybrid and iron hybrid. I play a couple of hybrids myself swapping out my 22 degree for my 4 iron in the winter months. My 19 degree stays in the bag throughout the year because I hit it so well. Not sure I would go to a 6 iron replacement tbh, but for some it will be what makes them enjoy golf more. Hitting a heavy 6 iron and seeing it fall out of the sky like a stone miles short of target is probably the most annoying thing for some. With the 6 iron replacement I reckon it would be harder to chunk a shot. Great review both
I would love to get my dad into a set of the Elevens. I think they would be a huge help with him not playing golf much anymore.
