In this video, we have partnered with Titleist in a bid to help bust some of the most common golf ball myths. This video, in which Neil Tappin is joined by Titleist golf ball specialist Tom Hiscock, explains what these misconceptions are and will hopefully help you make a smarter choice when it comes to selecting the right ball for your game.

Would it be fair to say that if you’re budget allows the prov’s regardless of your Handicap or skill level is alway the best option
Totally missed the point that higher handicapper’s probably don’t use premium balls as they don’t want the extra cost of possibly losing £10 to £15 of balls a round.
Thanks for commenting on colour. If you ask me Titleist should do more work on coloured balls and include more gloss coloured balls. As you a say I lose more in winter and don’t find that white works so I use yellow or orange. In summer yellow or the Velocity green.
Thx for the vid! In your second to last item, mention was made on a topic that could be included in a future session. That is the performance of matte finish balls compared to traditional finish.
Very informative video. Thank you
– 1st – winter players have 15+ handicaps play cheaper balls to save money ( winter easily losing when the golf dive into mud or soft ground )
– Expensive Soft vs Cheap hard golf balls definitely have major differences between them in spin or feels .
End of the day is depending on the golfers ? Low handicapper & deep pocket buy Pro-V
Mid – buy Kirkland
High – anything cheap
Interesting on the coloured balls, my dyslexic daughter uses a yellow tinted overlay when reading which instantly upt her words read per minute. Probably something in how the brain sees and reacts to colours, even when striking a golf ball.
Strangely, when I play with a "found" pro v, I play better…!!!
I think Titleist True Feel is a good all around ball!
I use Pro V1 in spring/summer and Pro V1x in autumn/winter..
No issues at all..
I'm definitley going yellow after my current lot have been liberated. My eyes aren't the best. Add in some glear and I'm not tracking the ball past 200m these days.
White balls in the summer and orange balls in the winter.
nothing about centre of gravity of the ball yet
good video guys, it was useful, thanks
I am using yellow. I can see them better than white. And I can see which ball is mine from the distance. It is less stressful for me to know that my ball is in a good spot. 😊
I'd also wager that tour players use premium golf balls because they get them for free.. im not above it
Quick answer: I use a red golf ball because the color interaction with the tint in my eyeglasses makes it glow like an ember, so it's easier to find when I shank it into the weeds.
A free golf ball is the right golf ball
Been a fan of orange golf balls for a while – so easy to spot! Given I'm not fantastic, certainly saves me a bit of time searching for it!
It’s a great business model for the companies to say “fit the golf ball from the green back” and there is some merit. However it’s a business model to showcase the premium £50/doz high spinning golf balls. I can personally adapt to any kind of ball from 120 yards and in. It’s the long game performance and feel which is so overlooked and maybe that’s because most people would choose a softer (cheaper) ball based on those clubs. Interesting video though
Most UTUBE influences talk about getting fitted for your clubs. However after seeing this video, am I right in thinking that you need to be fitted for a golf ball first before get fitted for the right clubs?
Here's my follow-up question: I think it was My Golf Spy that demonstrated that matte-finish balls perform differently when wet; i.e., fly higher and spin less. Has Titleist researched this? Thx.
Tour players have no idea how much a dozen Pro V1s cost – but we do!
Srixon two colour (Orange/Yellow) my preference
I like to use those yellow or best worst the orange colour golf balls. I hate those red or dark red colour when you can't see where it is during flight n direction when they are in the air 🙁
Good advert for Titleist who want players of all handicaps to buy lots of expensive Titleist balls not really an independent
myth busting article
I like yellow golf balls as here in Cornwall there are often masses of seagull feathers littering the fairways. Red or orange are no use to me as I'm red/green colourblind.
