  1. Simon 1k sadly isn’t the top end for a set of irons, have you seen the new callaway big Bertha irons which are roughly £350 a stick!

  2. I have the orginal 101's. Played one season with them and I really like them a lot. The only adjustment I made was to replace the 4 iron with a hybrid, but that's it. I would have loved the option of 5 to GW. Absolutely rock solid quality. Love my Takomo's!

  3. Some would say these dtc brands are like supermarket own label. They can only exist if the major brands invest in r and d that they can copy in looks and performance. It’s like a parasitic existence.

  4. I also took the plunge , had a punt on 3 to e Ben Hogan ftx forged irons for £50 from Vinted ( on for 8 months) delivered to the local Tesco for £68 ( collected while buying the usual Friday pringles and revels). Have been playing with them for 2 years off 6.5 hcp index. To be fair I don't put the 3 or 4 in the bag (just for practice on the linn park municipal) & had to spend £1.25 on salt and vinegar (multiple use) and a touch of electric to heat the glue under the ferrules. Spending my money on lessons, hoping to get to scratch with these clubs before falling into the arms of Thanatos. Love Ur channel Simon.

  5. The only issue with buying DTC brands are that I don't know my spec to improve my game yet. Golf coach said I should be in a stiff shaft. Pro shop at my course said it depends you could be a stiff in one shaft regular in another (assuming because most of his stock is regular). Had a free custom fitting at AG and they advised stiff and 3dg up right in the p790/rought st pro. Until I get a consistent answer. I have researched the 699 sub 70 and takomo 101. The only benefit with sub 70 is you can go to Hereford for a fitting

  6. I think the fact that they have quality components was a little lost on most. All they did was look at the head.

  7. I have owned many (too many) big named brand irons. I have played three generations of PXG, Callaway, and Taylormade. I liked them all, but I ordered a set of Takomo 201 heads and was amazed at the head weight accuracy and fit. I used a set of steel shafts that I had and have never played better golf. The head is on the small size but they sound and feel great. No vibration from miss hits. Worth the money.

  8. Took you 3:30 to get to the brand. Didn’t even take the time to continue watching. I’ve already heard of them and unless you have a way to get fit for them I’m not interested.

  9. I would take a serious look at the TAKOMO brand had i not already upgraded to SIM2 MAX OS's. I went 4 – PW, AW,SW, 9 clubs, MT85 STEEL, I paid $937 USD.

  10. Just picked up a set of 699 Pro Sub 70 irons in black like a previous comment I'd like to see a
    A test with the two,

  11. Heard of them, some YouTuber up north raved about them. If they could be tried first, then they might really become a market leader.

  12. They look great, I had a go with the ping 525s and they were too clicky for my likening, tried the mizuno 255 opphh beautiful iron but pricy, would love to try the takomo but hard to find🤷‍♂️

  13. Takomo is indeed a Finnish company and in finnish " takomo" means a workshop where you forge metal. Clever name for finnish ears. 🇫🇮🇫🇮🇫🇮🏌️‍♂️🏌️‍♂️🏌️‍♂️

  14. I’ve been playing the 101T for a couple months now. Absolutely love them. Not going to change in a hurry.
Took me a week or two to get used to them. I was a 22 HCP before I brought these clubs playing with a set of Nike NDS and now my HCP is sitting at 14.5 using these irons.

  15. I bought the 101s about 5 months ago live in NZ so they took a month to get to me in a word l would sum them up as Fantastic, just make sure you know your flex, shaft weight, grip size and whether you need steel or graphite, and also what type of model suits your game.
If you do not have these then bend the local pro in your golf shop then once you have all this info you don't have to worry about the club head because if your own set up is correct believe me this club head won't let you down.

  16. I've been gaming my 101Ts for 3 months – absolutely love them. Choice of shafts when ordering, so if you know your specs, reduces the risk

  17. You should test them out against the Cleveland uhx and the tour edge 721 or 722. You can get those new around 500 to 600!

  18. My buddy got the 101s here in the US. 501 bucks with shipping 4 thru PW. Only down side was he had to wait almost 3 months to receive them.

  19. Another direct-to-consumer brand that has had very good reviews is Sub 70. They also have a larger range of models.

  20. So the two old man didn't recognize the name and just assumed they were an economy line of clubs. One said 300 and his buddy said 250. Typical country club golf snobs. Takomo clubs look far from economy, they look very premium.

  21. Perhaps Takomo Golf Ambassador Program sign up for SAS? can't go wrong, good brand, well made, value.

  22. I don't normally watch this channel, I thought i was at a TaylorMade video and trottie was speaking 🤣

  23. Bro review SUB70!! Hands down the best looking irons and same prices as the takhoma that are getting tons of love right now. Bro put sub70 in the people’s ear!! IMO the best quality and looks out there for half the price. Been hoping to see a sub70 review ever since I heard about them

  24. Fantastic idea to involve other golfers who haven't seen the clubs before. Great video!

    – Team Takomo

  25. I was really tempted to purchase them after watching some reviews but what killed it for me was having to pay import tax on top. I couldn't find a 2nd hand set and ended up getting Wilson Staff CB irons instead. I am still very curious about them!!!

  26. I recently purchased the 201s heads only and got shafts put in by a company in the UK came in at £650 with modus 120x and z cord grips, I actually had 770s before and the quality is just as good and feel amazing no way the premium brands are worth twice as much

  27. Clubs look good and you can't beat the price point but I'll stick with my Sub 70 699 Pro's.

  28. I have owned the 101 for a year; and they are great to play; one PGA Pro in Laguna Beach, California course stopped me at the starter and asked all about them;

  29. They have 2 members of good good using these irons. Seems like they are using influencers instead of touring pros.

  30. Really nice irons. Forged. So the can be bent for lift and lie changes. Nice looking, thin top line. About $65 a stick.

  31. Love my Takomo 101s, I did have to change the shafts as I didn't get along with the KBS shafts I ordered them with. I put in a set of 780 ES Smacwrap and they are my current gamers.

  32. Simon I got fitted for mizuno pro 225, but the price for 5-Pw was €1350. I brought a set of Takomo 201 4-pw in my spec with upgraded C taper KBS shaft with half inch longer for half the price of the mizuno. Only issue is there 12 week wait because of custom build. Irons coming week before Christmas 😊

  33. i feel that if there were clubs that really were that much better than others we would all be after them and be very pleased with them ,but really, i dont find this at all being true with most players i know,. my clubs are fairly old now, 40 odd years, and i have many other sets. and also played with even more that i did not own, Iv let my mates hit with my clubs many times and i know they were suprised how well they did with them even though their clubs were many times more expensive than mine, . remember that looks dont mean anything, its always the way they feel to you.
