How to choose the putter that is right for you
In this golf tips video we examine how to pick the right putter from the many different models and options available. We discuss how some golfers will prefer a more bladed design while others will prefer more of a mallet design, which features a much bigger head. We cover how using a putter with an insert on the face might be best for greens that are particularly fast while a cover with a milled metal design might work best on slower greens. We also cover how the shapes and sizes of the putter grip have evolved in recent years, as well as the club shaft and how it is introduced onto the clubhead.
In essence, choosing the right putter is a matter of personal preference. Don’t hesitate to go out to the golf shop and try a bunch of them before you buy one. The weight, the design of the head and how it looks back at you are all factors that are inherently personal. Just don’t be shy to ask for help as golfers with more straight back and straight through putting strokes might find putters more suitable for that swing path. And similarly for those with a more arc swing stroke.
Manufacturers of good golf putters include: Scotty Cameron, Taylormade, Odyssey, Bettinardi, Seemore and Ping
