If you’re a regular everyday golfer, you probably struggle with inconsistent ball striking – the ball goes left, right, up, down, sideways…and you made the same golf swing each time. What gives?! Well, the answer is simple, you’ve got to learn how to control the clubface in the golf swing. This golf tip has helped so many golfers improve their clubface control and get them hitting straighter, more consistent golf shots, and it’s a whole lot more fun too.

I am Tom Saguto, PGA Member and founder of SagutoGolf. Thank you for visiting my instructional page where you can find how to get on the fast track to improving your golfing abilities. Whether you are a seasoned golfing veteran looking for a quick swing tune-up after an on-course emergency, or a beginner just looking to get the most out of your golfing experience, I am here to help you achieve your golfing goals.

My mission as your swing doctor is simple, to help you maximize your enjoyment in game of golf. Because, let’s face it, golf is a hard game.

My philosophy is wholly based on the student having a fun, meaningful experience in a frustrating and complicated game where potential lifelong golfers either quit because it is too difficult or that they experience some form of swing-related pain or discomfort. I mitigate these problems by focusing entirely on the student’s needs and goals while teaching a golf swing method that ultimately takes stress off of the common pain areas of the swing.

  1. Tom- It looks like you're using a large grip. I don't think of noticed this before. Did you switch? What are the benefits? Hope to get an answer. Thanks as always for all your hard work in providing great content.

  2. I have been trying to understand the concept of "Fast Hands", where the hands roll 180 degrees from one parallel to the next. My confused brain was thinking " But that puts a huge emphasis on Timing, – how can that be easy for an amateur like me to groove ?
You show that "Fast Hands" is all B***cks. I love your explanation – it makes so much more sense to me. Thank you for the video – hopefully my golf will be all sweetness and light once I've got this down. Regards

    Dave

  3. it’s winter here in Minnesota. Can’t wait to be back out on the fairways man. I will be getting educated over the winter months thanks to you Tom.

  4. Your videos are so simple and straightforward! I have worked really hard this year on making my swing more simple and your keys have really helped! Everyone sees people like Dustin Johnson with his wrists cupped at the top of the backswing…it's so difficult to do that consistently. I love your thought process here with "quiet hands"…great video!

  5. Picked up a club halfway through this video and focused on the back of my hand and lead wrist. Feels great, but getting a feeling of pulling down to the ground with my lead hand. Is this ideal?

  6. They say there's a thin line between genius and madness, and I believe Tom is an absolute madman. In other words, he's just sane enough to produce all this incredible content and extremely helpful videos without really revealing the Mr. Hyde that survives just beneath his first skin layer. That's how close his madness is to the surface of genius. For the record, I've been following along since the days of his General Ambrose Burnside sideburns. And if that ain't cra cra, what is? God bless you Tom, keep on keeping on!

  7. Within 24 hours of watching this video I was at the driving range. The results were jaw-dropping! I kept my wrists "quiet", and couldn't believe the results. Shot after shot going exactly as intended. This is truly a powerful lesson. Brilliant teaching, Coach.

  8. After seeing this video and the short follow thru video preceeding this I went to the driving range to warmup before my round and was flushing all my irons and driver. Unfortunately on the course I struggled with my irons using the same concept hitting some shanks and tops. I started coming around by the middle of the back nine but can't figure out what caused the early issues with the irons. Any suggestions? I've been a member since early this year and am showing improvement. Grant in Phoenix.

  9. Tom, why is the grip on your club so fat? And, has it a flat down the front like a putter?

  10. This vid was clarifying, it’s so easy to cheat backswing by rolling the wrists. So thanks for the reminder. I guess the amateur slice often comes becouse of a poor shoulder rotation which leaves the club face wide open when the turn starts, maybe most people are better of to play a planned fade and aim slightly left with feets…

  11. Loving all your tips! BURNING QUESTION (I don't think you have a dedicated video on it)…can you explain footwork/kneebend feel. I know most weight is on lead leg to provide consistency. However, it looks like you get a push off your inside lead foot through impact.

  12. Truly Magnificent and man does it work. Winter in UK so spending most of my golf time in practice with quiet hands…magic.

  13. No, Dr Saguto….the club face angle is perpendicular to the direction of the ball, it’s not “the direction the ball will go” BIG difference!

  14. What type and size golf grips are you using? Looks like they are jumbo – does that help with the lack of rotation in your hands?

  15. I think it goes beyond hand position for my swing. My knee flex , spine tilt all affect my consistency.
