Do you find yourself striking the golf ball too clean? With an inconsistent distance gapping through the longer irons? A pure strike is more often than not synonymous with more efficient movement and our movement organises itself around the task at hand (our intention). Here are a few ideas, drills and exercises we went through with Ian to help us recognise and regulate our golf swing, getting more of the sweet spot onto the golf ball with the irons.

Huge thanks to Ian for letting us share his lesson with you guys!

  1. Yesterday would have been my Dad's 75th birthday. Went and played 18. Shot a personal best 40 on the back 9. Shot 87 for the 18. First time ever shooting in the 80s. Big thanks to this channel

  2. Tonight there will be the strange sight of golfers skipping down their garden like an ice skater ?

  3. Awesome video Marcus! I don't know how you and the Zen Team manage to continually improve the content? This one will hit home with a lot of golfers; so many good feelings to take away 👍

Less than a year (9 months) after my Zen lesson with Sam, I am now representing my home club in local county matches! Somewhere I wouldn't have been without Team Zen ⭐⛳

To anybody watching the videos, you really need to be there in person for a lesson to appreciate a lot of other factors that go in to the discovery of 'your' own swing. Outstanding as always!

  4. I’ve got some JPX HMP a coming soon as they have help of the bottom groove – will ignore this video lol

  5. Interesting how the body works, every student struggles to flex then extend on the GRF board plus the skip then swing exercise. almost without exception everybody slows down and you can see the brain trying to work out how to do it ,fascinating! I think that's the first time the hoops being hit out of your hands on video, have you taken a few shots to the back? 🤔

  6. Marcus, fantastic lesson, as always. The skip then swing, has made a tremendous difference in my swing. It was initially hard for me to do, but I kept at it and finally was able to dial it in. My body got accustomed to it and my strike and speed went through the roof. I do this drill daily for a few minutes religiously. Went from an 11 handicap to a 5. Working on getting it down to scratch. Shot my first sub-par round last week. This drill, alone, is exceptional. It improves your timing, sequence, strike and speed. Be patient, it takes time for your body to adjust to it, and when it does, you’ll see and feel amazing results. Cannot thank you enough. I sing the praises of your system to everyone. Keep up the fantastic work. Best instruction on the internet. Cheers from Arizona, USA.

  7. I’m always amazed how the students all end up hitting fizzing balls with beautiful flights by the end of the video🤯🤯🤯 every other instructor sends their clients away feeling confused with a drill to work on for the next visit but you have everyone leaving with an amazing confidence, a fizzing projectile like ball flight hoping they don’t need to come back!! You amaze me Marcus! I feel like I improve just watching the videos😊 and I have not even been swinging a club for years now! Keep it going!!! 👍👍👍

  8. All the positive comments you can think of bam you get them. Personally, I am gaining yardage pretty much on a daily basis mainly with the irons. The skip then swing drill is great, now to add the leg powering up phase for more distance yet 👍, great stuff Marcus.

  9. Hello all! would you recommend using the GFRi board for a pre round range warm up when you only have about 15/20 mins? If so what drills would you suggest if you're a bit short on time? Keep up the good work 👍

  10. Very good lesson. Sadly ZEN is too far away from Germany for a lesson – but these vids help through

  11. a couple of the metals came out of my grf system rotation disc, can I buy another one or is it fixable?

  12. Marcus I felt like this lesson was for me as I have the same tendencies as Ian. BUT even though the lesson was brilliant, I kept thinking wow your brave standing in front of Ian, particularly as he hit the hoop. I know my intention would be, please don’t shank one into the Zen master. Great video as always
