I'm a lowish tee kinda guy but there are certain holes where teeing high for a high fade works for me.
I thought that chip rolled out further
It makes me happy that we hit our 4 iron the same distance as I lol Watching good good guys hit a 4 iron like 250 makes me sadddd hahaha. My drives are bombs but I hit my irons soooo high. Trying to fix that though.
There are definitely valid reasons to Tee it high and to Tee it low, and you demonstrated it to perfection! When I'm really trying to get after one I will tee it high and let it fly, if I really want to focus on hitting the fairway I tee it low!
I tee it high for a draw and low for a fade, sadly teeing it in the middle doesn't always go straight.
Matt you should have a short game competition with Garret from Good Good.
thanks Matt, excellent advice. I do exactly what you say and it does work (usually 🙂 ) MB Ca
I use a Taylormade Stealth and tee it high. Makes it easier to hit up on it for me.
Both, for the aforementioned reasons. Great tip to pass along, course looks pure.
Yes yes yes
I like it somewhat low get more run out as long you get a fairway
I am a high tee person my driver is turned down to 7.5° which requires me to hit up on the ball, when need to keep the ball low out of wind and find fairway it a 3 wood
Low, for the score it's low
Hay Matt how many takes was it for that last putt? Be truthful!
And when are you going to go for a shot to make Champions Tour cut?
The it high and let it fly!!!!
Maybe it's just my swing, but I almost always tee it high. When I hit up on the ball it takes off almost all side spin, so my tee shots are typically dead straight. Teeing it low messes with my head and really exacerbates draw or fade spin for me.
When you tee it low, do you take the same swing as if you teed it high? Same ball position in stance?
I have always teed the ball the standard height – top of the driver in the middle of the ball. But I can see the advantages of teeing low and high and plan to test this out. Good tip MSG.
More of a medium height, in between what you were showing is what I try to go for.
Great video. I will try this.
I have never given it much thought before Matt. According to your definition I suppose I a tee it high guy. But now I will have to experiment. Great video MSG
half a ball is ancient words for smaller driver heads. Its 1/4 of the ball now, its been said many times by tour pros and high ranks alike.
Before I cured my slice and developed a decent swing, I had no idea how high to tee the ball. But the past few years I always tee it high for driver. So much easier to cut dog legs if needed, full send down straight fairways. I can only afford to stay local so I guess the courses around me don't 'require' a low tee height. But I'm gonna experiment tomorrow morning at the range.
Matt, when I tee it low, I try not to emphasize an upward driver swing, instead I try to swing level. By doing this I do lose quite a bit of distance but get a line drive safe fairway finder. What are your thoughts on this.
Always tee high and now I know why I struggle with that crosswind. I’ll be trying the low tee next time out. Class ✌🏼
Low tee ball for me
Tee high =‘s draw for me a low =‘s fade. On that how a fade started somewhere left of the bunker would work. 😁
with the help of my coach we worked out the tee height for my game . been able to maintain a single figure handicap into my 60's
tee high I get a draw, but my stock shot is low with a cut fade to get in in the fairway at 210m.
I use the blue and white plastic stepped tees, to ensure tee same height every time. for low tees I put a sharpie mark on a white wooden tee before round about 1/2 inch . works every time and dont change my swing one bit to achieve results.
I actually use draw on dog leg left hole and fade on dog leg right holes
really enjoy your videos, especially the take of 5 series which I am now revisiting again.
I will try this on my next round.Great information
Great tip 👍 it works really good
At first I teed it up high. The better I get, the lower the tee.
I tee it high and still find a way to top my tee shots with Driver … extremely low hooks, and I for the life of me can't figure it out … I went from a giant slice, fixed that up into a baby fade, started hitting a little draw, and now it's a full blown topped duck hook that goes nowhere and I don't have a clue what's going on
Does the driver face angle determine the tee height?
Is the setup the same for a fairway finder?
Been working on teeing my ball higher for more distance. Starting to see those results. But teeing low is a great option based on what u said.
Watched one of your vids recently about tee height. What about the correct tee height for a hybrid.
Try saying 'Comfort' instead of 'Comfortability' that's not a real word.
Loving the channel and the presentation 👌
To me it's all about taking the wind in to account. It's not the hole lay-out as much as keeping it out of the winds. In high winds, unless from the back, I tend to tee it lower.
Thanks Matt! Great info! I’m usually teeing high!
I tee it low to play a fade shot. It works well for me. I'll pay more attention to the low tee-low shot now.
My go to shot is either a power fade or as straight as I can ! lol so I always prefer teeing up right between low and high height, better control over the shot I need to make good contact.
Late to the party on this one. I like a high tee. I feel the low tee I get a lot of slice spin.
Side note, do you take practice swings with putter or just get up and go by feel? I recently switched to lining up my ball and then just hitting without the practice strokes…. I feel I got way better at putting (especially the long lag putts)
I tee it up to where you said it's too high, and I've been able to hit it over 300 yards for the first time in my life
I typically tee mine too high to avoid the driver hitting the ground before the ball. This makes me have to hold the club off the ground at address and results in a few sky balls when I come in too steep.
Any time I try to tee it low, I top it. But your final sentence is the key “…but we gotta practice”
Ok, here’s my thing. I use these 2 1/4 inch tees for every drive. That gives me less than 1/2 the ball above the club. I have found that having the exact same tee set up allows me to know that everything is the same, and takes one thing out of my mind. If I am playing a drive where I need to keep the ball low, I will hit my 3 wood.
I've all ways teed my ball exactly as you described a high tee half the ball above the top of the club I'll have to try your low tee thanks
