  1. Are we paying more for clubs as the 'big' companies are paying more and more to their 'top athletes'?

  2. $1000 wedge guy I assume is Canadian.
Our dollar is trash haha but I'd say $700-800 is more likely.
My equipment is almost always second hand

  3. Latest and greatest clubs seem expensive but if you buy at the right time end of a clubs run then they become more realistic. Strangely pxg have some cheaper priced equipment these days after their eye watering original prices.

  4. DTC brands are making some things cheaper. Don't think the price of clubs has outpaced inflation but they did start out expensive before inflation.

  5. £500+ on a single club blows my mind, I think I spent around that on my full set.

  6. Of course they are, if golf was a serious sport with a serious organisation in charge, equipment development would be managed and controlled in the interests of the participants and not the industry. How easy would it be to make a standard ball which everybody had to play with….like every other sport in the world.

  7. Thank you for your usual interesting video. Similar to the car industry, there are the Rolls and Bentleys and of course there are the Vauxhalls in golf clubs. You buy what you can afford. The DTC market and the preloved markets exist for the more informed golfers. There is no microchip or AI in a golf club which suggests that apart from the basic functionality, expensive golf clubs are like clothing with designer labels. I don't think one can buy a good game in golf. It's practice and more practice with guidance from a good Coach.

  8. For some it won't matter for others it will. One thing for certain the market will shrink for the next couple of years. That doesn't bother me that's business what does concern me is will golf clubs be able to ride out these very difficult times being hit with raising operational costs and possible falling membership . Covid times numbers increased now with the cost of living numbers will fall. The question is will golf become an elite sport/passtime once again remember that's why golf was like it was with dress codes and personal expectations or should I say requirements.
