I took a few minutes last weekend and hit the new Willson blades. They look spectacular, and when you catch one they feel stellar, but definitely not up my street.
I've only played with blades started golf at 8 years of age now I'm 75. Blades then were true blades had to strike them closer to the shaft if you struck the ball off the toe it sent a shock through your fingers and it hurt.
I play with the modern blades that are well balanced. I have tried the hollow forgiving irons but I'm a bit old fashioned they have no feel. I like my mp33 irons and great to shape the ball. And the feed back of a well struck ball.
But those who learnt with the modern hollow back forgiving clubs don't like my irons. I started my golf with only one club I was given a one iron and used it to drive fairways and putt even get out of bunkers. I used to caddie on weekends by the age of 12, I could beat most of the men.
So when it comes to clubs each to their own there is no right or wrong. Also my putter is 50 years old. Only a few years ago gave up playing with wooden woods, because the fell to pieces and become unrepairable. I still don't like metal woods its like playing ping pong but they don't make me play any better I still play off a 4 handicap.
I learned on blades. And I wish I was good enough to hit them consistently
