Love my old irons. Play 3-PW of Callaway X16s
I normally listen on Apple Podcasts, it seems to be played at a faster speed, anyone else found this?
Tried TSR2 yesterday, superb sound feel & forgiveness – how much better than my M5 though🤔. M5 had quicker clubhead speed whilst TSR2 had better ball speed by 3mph, no doubt TSR2 better off centre but is the cost worth it, especially as premium shaft recommended? Regarding prize money lower down, 100% yes I think money should filter down so much more than it does – the pro’s comment that he should have played better isn’t really relevant as then someone else would have finished lower down anyway. Sport is tough & you can be the best in the world at your sport, but did you know Olympic sportspeople only get £28k a year from Lottery funding? Any more income is simply sponsorship in many sports.
LIV is a big yawn. A nothingburger.
What about your wedges don't u have to change them out every couple of years
How about a video? Take a selection of clubs, 1 set from 5 years apart, get a mid handicapper and see what happens…
Clubs are cool but guy said, don’t expect to hit brilliant golf because of them
I got to a point that I no longer cared for Golf much, and then I tried FlingGolf, and Love it, go play whenever I can. Especially since my sons will play FlingGolf, and want nothing to do with regular golf.
I don't live in England but how much is a green fee at a nice course. We pay around $50-$100 a round. They paid 100 for 2 rounds. Seems fair to me. If you can't afford to play, don't.
YES! I like to buy used. But its easier to change up the shafts now so I can change the shafts more than the heads. And I can mix all my shafts with all TM products. For me the shafts being changeable are the game changer.
My comment on LIV is I dont care, as far as new drivers etc, waste of money, unless u have good clubhead speed to max out the technology ,a newer driver won't help or give u that magic distance they say it does
Just bought taylormade burners 09 and r7 driver for £150 they look brand new I feel brand new I love them
Rick proved this point with his video series of drivers over a 5 year period. Generally, the differences were minimal. Might be time for another series of videos comparing drivers over a 10 year period.
I've gotten new Mavrik irons replacing my early 90s DCI irons I used in high school. I've already dropped 10 strokes on average.
I also have a Mavrik driver and although the Stealth is faster (109mph – 114mph) and 10+ yards longer. I can't justify pulling the trigger because of the price.
New fitted shafts are the new “new driver”
The only thing that will make equipment interesting again would be changing the rules. New golf clubs are nothing but a status symbol.
In an effort to break 90, and playing with my father, he asked me my score on about the third hole. It was a par 5 and I reported a 6. I hated 7's on my card. As the round went on, it was cold outside, but I was shooting really well, so everyone stayed with it, and they were all rooting for me. I ended up shooting an 87, which was really an 88. I felt awful for years after that. I had ruined the memory of a great day for myself, with a meaningless lie, and to my own father.
Needless to say, that I never cheated at golf again.
I learned so much from that moment and that day, and it was about much more than just golf.
You can tell that Rick, has discovered “just for men “ 😂
I only watch LIV golf it's too hard to find and watch other golf tournaments.
To get any benefit of new technology your swing form has to be extremely consistent and repeatable. Most golfers do not have this and so new clubs will do nothing to their performance.
I still haven't found a driver to match my 9.5 degree Cleveland launcher from early 00s ..360cc…still flex…heavy head
I don't know about drivers, but I hit my titleist 712 mb's for ten years, got fitted for new sticks yesterday and it turns out they've lost plenty of pop. ball speed was noticeably down compared to the new ones on center strikes, so take that for what it's worth. I believe clubs can last a long time, but after 10 years I could notice the difference in pop quite easily.
I am still using my Nike VR Pro Blades! Solid set of irons
Other than the majors pga tour is lame. Liv is way more fun and exciting. I think way more players are going to defect to liv next year.
Potato, potahto, WGAF? Pronounce amateur any way you want.
With buying new clubs I think there’s something like max 1% of improvement every year these days just play your clubs until they get worn down then buy new ones. My dad kept the same irons for 13 years and driver for almost 10 I used to think he was crazy for not getting new clubs and then I hit a round with them instead of my newer 2021 model clubs. Not much of performance difference. Then I got it.
I took my i200's XP95R back to Ping Gainsboro after 3yrs and was re-fitted for Recoil graphite gaining 10yrds bullet straight on 7i. I got them all re-shafted by Ping. Best investment.
I am fortunate enough to live relatively close to a 2nd Swing Golf. I found a couple hybrids that are good enough for me for 10 dollars each. As for new clubs it is just like new cars. Some people change cars every 3 years. Others keep a car until it is really beat up.
I’m a pretty high level golfer, but I play on the amateur level. When it comes to not making enough money, I think anyone who wants to compete locally, the competition is enough. Prizes are nice but not the reason I play. For local pro events, I understand people complaining about not making enough money, but we run into the women’s soccer conundrum of what is something worth to the world compared to an individual
Matt slacking this morning, had to wait a few hours for this one😊. Just teasing bud you always do a great job editing these.
I have a suggestion for Guy redemption on the Mute Cheat, a 9 hole Mach Play with Rick, Peter and 2 others against Guy where everyone else can have one cheat but Guy can´t have none!!!! Great content…
New golf clubs are not about the performance itself for me. Its really about setting a milestone in my progression at the game
I think getting a fitting is 100% worth it, mainly for the shafts and angles (which IMO are the most important bits) more than just getting new clubs, but once you're fitted there is no point changing until they have seen better days. I had my old clubs for 9 years, and got fitted for a set 2 years ago. Before I always used to look at newer and "better" clubs, but I don't even look at clubs now because I know mine are fitted for me.
The TSR3 is the best driver I’ve hit in my entire life
Excellent debate about new verse old clubs. Honestly, I buy golf clubs when my old one’s start to look scratched and worn out not because I feel I’m missing out on performance. I think that says it all at least for an amateur golfer like me. 👍🏾
I'm still playing a Titleist 910 D2 which I got fitted back in 2010/11. Love this club.. haven't tried the latest TSR but have tried newer models over the past few years but didn't see a significant improvement in distance that would warrant spending £400-£500.
44:51 That hole-in-one was at Big Sky in Pemberton BC. I love that place. I've only played there once. I played it on the last day of my bachelor party (i.e. totally exhausted), I had a 4 hour drive through the mountains home looming after the round (i.e. anxious), and shot a 97 (very bad for me)… and I STILL absolutely love that golf course! An absolute must if you're ever in the Vancouver/Whistler/Pemberton area.
