What is your favorite disc in your bag? It’s one of my favorite questions to ask players, with the follow-up being why? Being comfortable with a disc generally lends itself to making a player being more consistent with the disc as well. Yet when it comes to building our bags, we can often overlook this exact concept with certain areas within the bag.

The heart of this channel has been to help as many people become the consistent and competitive players they want to be as possible. There are lots of physical components to improving our game, but I truly believe decision-making and mental game can help us improve even faster. So what is this oversight beginners make regarding their bag? You’ll have to watch to find out!

  1. This is so true!! I took only 6 discs to the course last weekend. Mostly putters and some mids. The mental clarity of not having choice overload was so refreshing. I spent more time enjoying the outdoors and the sun rather than carrying a load of discs to think about.

  2. For distance 200 feet+ I use my invictus for less I use one of my 3 fairways my heat or Stalker or Volt.

  3. Don't forget "Disc Golf Tree Repellent" from Martins Gift Shop. It should be in every beginners bag.

  4. Robbie C….I've developed an interest in DG lately. I haven't been on a course yet and I don't have any discs at this time….if you want to be my caddie today, tell me what starter kit you would recommend for me. Bear in mind I may not "take" to the sport once I try it, so what would you put in my bag for this 65 yr old beginner. Thanks and God Bless

  5. This is probably the most useful topic in the sport. I did this years ago on my own and this alone made me much better at the game overall. Probably more important than my evolving form as i learned how to use my disc selection very well.

  6. In addition to the mental part of too many discs, there is the physical part– muscle memory. If you use one disc for forehand approach, you know every nuance of that disc and the exact angles and speed are committed to muscle memory so you execute the line perfectly every time. This extreme familiarity linked to muscle memory, may mean you can even use the same disc as conditions change because you know how to adjust. When you are using three different discs, you get confusion– that link to muscle memory never happens.

  7. 200-250 wide open, Zone all day long. 300+ probably jump up to Captain. I don't really do mid ranges.

  8. OK first of all… Love My Bag and the flight view really helped. I only have 2 overlaps and will post them on Ebay. great tip, THANKS

  9. As a newbie, I get really confused at the different dics available. I add a few to the cart, read more reviews, then delete the cart, lol.

  10. I have 4 shrykes in my bag. My money G-star that is reaching the end of its life…its replacement…which is beating in nicely, a star…when I don't want as much turnover…and the Halo…when I have a head wind…and know my money g-star will just turn into a roller. Or…when I need a good hyzer shot with no flex….the Halo does just that in no wind conditions. 1 mold I throw well….different nuances, plastics, and stages of wear…that is what I picked up from the Pros…not the latest tour series Destroyer that Pro A throws 500+ feet.

  11. Man iv been playing about 8 months and figured out so much from youtube over my 8 months of playing and research. This video right here is probably the most informative disc golf video iv ever seen. So much information packed in a short video! I knew I had too many choices when I would go out on the course and just recently I was forced to rebuild my bag after it was stolen a few weeks ago when my truck was broken into. Now that iv started rebuilding my bag this video is going to help me so much starting out again with all fresh discs! You sir are a saint,I bid thee good fortune! May your discs never find an OB lay or a single tree(out of your favor, cause we all know sometimes a tree can save your ass) Good day sir!

  12. So my friends and I all have at least one bag full of discs…it’s funny because we always joke about how we only use a select few of those discs out of our whole selection.

  13. 200 feet zone 250 feet zone 300 feet zone/Buzz/verdict depending on wind conditions. 350 feet. Fairway driver

  14. This is so true. I switched to a smaller bag to take away extra choices. It has forced me to learn how to throw better instead of hoping a special disc would do the work for me.

Can I still take some discs out of my bag? Yes. But now I have space to rotate discs in for seasoning and for specific holes when I game plan a tournament.

  15. Maybe unpopular opinion:

I prefer a simplified bag because the reduction in weight lets me play an extra round and bring a 6 pack.

  16. "We will be more comfortable with our choices if we have less choices to make" You sir sound like you would make a rich politician some day. 🤣🤣🤣

  17. This is my theory for golf too. You are allowed 14 clubs in the bag, but I play better when I haber only 7. It is easier to choose which club to hit. Plus it makes the bag much lighter which is better because I walk with it in my back…

  18. I’m so thankful for your videos. I’m new to DG and your guidance has been so helpful. Keep up the great work!

  19. Would love to have you as a caddy i a competition but hey i Live i Finland (love your videos learned a lot though)
