If you lived in the 1960’s and wanted an affordable forged blade would these be on your short list? In my mind, these are the type of clubs I would have been interested in playing. Even today I am curious about how I will preform on the course with these clubs.

  1. I had a buddy who gamed a set of these in the early 80’s that his dad gave him. He played them well, but the finish started wearing off. In my opinion clubs from back then play the same as they do today. Forged or cast blades were a little harder to play, but made you a better golfer. You are correct, clubs today do the same thing. They just look modern and have stronger lofts.

  2. Where do your clubs come from? Do you borrow a club here and there from friends or do you scour used bins and garage sales? I ask only because you find and present some interesting clubs. I enjoy your vids! Thanks

  3. An affordable set for the average Joe. There fine clubs. They made some pro sets and sponsored several pros. Greg Norman for awhile, who had rebar shafts in his club I heard. Hope you can find the set.

  4. TGIS!!! Now that is a nice styled club. I have to agree with you on that it's intriguing enough to look into a set of these. Well done sir! Ebay is calling my name.

  5. I had a set of these in the late 70s handed down from my Dad. My first set of real irons. I think they were a few years newer than the club shown in this video. They were forged and the 6-iron had a thumbnail size piece of chrome missing off the toe which I touched up with some silver model paint. I remember this clubs as something that actually worked and were easy to hit compared to other clubs of the day. I would love to be able to try these clubs again.

  6. I'm a huge fan of Spalding golf equipment. I currently have my eye on this set. I already have the 1977 cast version of the Executive that I love. I was thinking this set would be good for a persimmon and blades set with a Sunday bag. Let's get back to the roots!

  7. I have the full set… same clubs! My father bought them brand new in Phoenix in 66! Back in the 80s, I played these clubs, 2 iron through pitching wedge. I purchased a set of king cubras to replace them. And in no way would I ever go back to playing them again and I am a 7 handicap! Technology has come along way and we might as well use it..especially at my age. The old adage, you can buy a game applies!
