This is wise counsel. I want to testify that I had hit about a dozen 7 irons into my net, early this am (USA-CDT) before watching this lesson. A few on the toe, heel, and center. I went back out after watching and focused on my hip movements and the difference is amazing! Sound, feel, balls speed — all entirely different. I missed some for sure, but oh my, when you do it right! Get ready to look over the green, not just short and right. Well explained and demonstrated. Thank you!
Oh no, even the robots are showing up and trying to learn how to play golf. Well I guess they went to the right place to figure some things out. The only question that remains is whether or not the robots will ultimately learn to handle trash talk.
This I exactly what my pro said I’m doing and yes I’m hitting out the toe all the time! I like the idea of focusing on the hips to fix it. Defo giving this a try thanks
Somthing I've found recently that doesn't make sense in my head but has made a massive impact on my game and enabled me to shoot under 80 for the first time ever at 79. I've spent all my time trying things to square the club etc into impact, fighting my open clubface and having a 2 way miss, toe strikes etc. The feeling I have now is to try and just lead with the heel of the club on the downswing and not do much else. its scary to trust, because it feels like your holding off the face for a big old slice…But I've never had better contact, its got me finding the middle of the club, taking divots where I used to pick the ball, and getting backspin and check on the greens where before I would be bouncing and rolling through especially in these dry conditions. At a guess its got my body moving and positioned better through the ball instead of coming up into it stalling out and "flipping" my hands at it in an effort to save it…
Hey Russell. Firing that right hip in transition must be a fundamental problem, even for better players. I bet solving this problem is entryway into a + handicap.

Another great point for those of us that produce these toe hits. To the range I go

Ball Roomba 😉
Great lesson.
Look a robot is picking up the range balls. There goes another job for a human

That hip depth move is money.

as we get closer to the ideal swing, does the lie angle of the club become more upright or flat?
