  1. @itubeutude Dude; Jim Furyk started playing this way and started scoring extremely well and his dad just went with the "don't fix what ain't broke approach"; What do you think is the percentage of teachers who know and understand human anatomy (Especially with a full sized skeleton like us?) and how it was meant to function on this planet? Less than one percent would be my bet! We have so far to go as an industry!! Did you think about my answer to your last question at all?

  2. @clemshaw I didn't ask about Jim's dad. And i'm not questioning your knowledge about human anatomy and how the body should move. It just seems odd that your students are replicating your exact swing. Tiger woods wouldn't teach someone to produce the exact same swing as he does it.

  3. itubeutude – I disagree with you , no two golfers have exactly the same swing. Understanding Shawn's principles of the golf swing and applying those principles is what seems important.
I have seen great improvement in my swing – thanks Shawn.

  4. @itubeutude
I never teach anyone to make the "same moves" as the other person; they end up looking like this because they are a humanoid living on this planet; 2 arms, 2 legs, pelvis and rib-cage with shoulder joints to bring it all together; when you respect the laws of nature, you get what you see here! None of them try to copy the moves, they get to feel gravity and centrifugal force and instinctively react to it; smart yes, odd no; and I would not call it exact either…:)

  5. @itubeutude i'd have to disagree. Tiger Woods would teach someone to swing the club like he does. Hogan advocated folks swing like HE did. Nicklaus said, 'This is golf MY WAY, but it works for me so give it a try'. And he went on to, in fairly lengthy detail, describe how he swung the club in his book. If it works for YOU, why wouldn't it work for someone else. However, I don't think this kid's swing looks JUST LIKE Shawn's.

  6. @dschultz6072 I don't disagree with you. Too many years and I haven't done "fine".
I play for the occasional geat shot or putt. I once broke 100 on a course that was
a glorified cow pasture. Mt goal has always been to consistently shoot 90.
I appreciate your wisdom and taking the time to reply to my post.

  7. Hey Shawn, shes doing great! Well she does have a great teacher too. I love that prepetual motion drill. I use it all the time at practice and on the course. My question with the horseshoe drill is can I do it with say small weights, like 5 lbs? Should the main focus be not crashing the arms into the body or should it be feeling the pull in the shoulder sockets? Sorry thats two questions, lol.

  8. @screamingeagletim
Hey Tim! Thanks for the great question! I would use 1 to 2 pound weights; 5 would be too much; you don't need a lot to get this feel; and you want to feel both the pulling and the no crashing; just focus on each one for 4 swings at a time and not try to focus on both at once…:) Shawn

  9. @cockywatchman1976 So, let me ask you this: Would you say that this was exactly what Bobby Jones had issues with? Yet he won all 4 majors in the same year with this exact swing; yet I would say that she has a better grip that does not come off the club at the top of the swing! Also, how do you suppose you would go about the changes? You will see them in the spring btw and I will explain how we went about it in an instinctive manner. Shawn

  10. @bluejfk HMMM; I have found that my students who are backhanders have different issues as the forehanders but hitting low is about the same from both sides; my personal experience as well; they definitely feel different but are technically very similar…Shawn

  11. Hi Shawn,
this is one of my favorite videos. To me, it demonstrates that you don't have to bend your right arm (I'm playing right handed) into an 90% angle in order to hit it far. I can now feel the weight of my arms and club much better and that helps coordinating downswing and body turn. It feels much more like a swing now.
Seams like the right arm bending and straightening was only another complication of my swing.
Thanx for our videos and waiting for the next one.
    Best regards, Volker

  12. Hi Shawn. What a great swing! You are to be commended. Personally I've made fantastic progress since watching your videos and for that I thank you, it's certainly made the game more enjoyable for me.
Shawn, I'm curious, at around the 2:24 mark in the above video with Savanna, you instruct her to "Toe" the feet–(did I hear that right?) Would you care to explain the significance of that particular prompt? I'm not sure on the meaning of it.
    Thanks again Shawn.

  13. @burton54ify Yes, I am trying to get her to open the feet about 15 degrees on both sides and not have them toe inward; she is very flexible right now and does not realize the importance of this and I try to remind her for later…:) It helps open the hips for a better turn in the backswing and for clearing into a better finish; lateral and forward to back balance is enhanced as well; Thanks for the great comment! Shawn

  14. One of your most inspiring videos! Two unrelated questions: (1) Is her great extension on the follow through because of "levitation" and "width" of the arms swinging? (2) I have a 6 year old and 4 year old at home – what age do you recommend starting golf? Thanks again! p.s. have you ever thought of putting a compilation of "WIG" students together – i.e. "Slicefixer students" on Youtube?

  15. Wow she has a really nice swing!!! I'm a young high school girl golfer myself, and wow that is amazing 95 to 78!!! That's inspirational. 🙂

  16. What a great swing! I can see your influence, Shawn, obviously, but it is her own swing. I noticed that, like you, she gets her hands pretty high in the back swing and the follow through. Is she naturally left handed? Hope you don't mind me adding she is a very cute young lady; I see a lot of "star potential" down the road on the LPGA! Keep us up to date on her progress.

  17. @MaleGolfer Thank you very much! She is right handed and plays golf to her backhand, like Phil, Sergio, and many on the tour. She is a soccer player though first but she could easily fall back on golf…:) She now has a skill for life in golf though!

  18. Wow, that's amazing; the fact that she's naturally right handed! I just can't imagine being able to swing from the left side like Phil, Savanah, and you. Are you right handed Shawn? My son-in-law swings equally well from both sides. He started playing from the left when he was playing baseball in high school because he thought a right handed golf swing would mess up his baseball swing. I know you've said that you just "go deeper into the rabbit hole" to accomplish this, but it's still amazing.

  19. Hey Shawn..I'm a member at your site and subscriber of you vids. First time I've seen this video though…..At the :25-:27 mark (the slow motion shots DTL shots at the range), would you say that Savanah's backswing is a little flatter than you prescribe in your videos? I only ask this because I'm struggling GREATLY with pushes and blocks recently. Conventional wisdom says that I'm coming too far from the inside right? Or am I crashing? I never understand how swings like hers work…THANKS!

  20. Of course she was taking the club back too far to the inside; that is a given; but you can also see she rights the ship towards the top of the backswing; she is and has been working on the takeaway you see in the "takeaway waggle update" video as well as the "feel your swing plane" and "feel the braced tilt" videos; it is a process! 🙂 Shawn

  21. I like how there is always one dislike . I really like his videos. Hi savannah meet my cat .His breed is called savannah.

  22. She has a very nice swing, good job Shawn . she can hit the ball longer than me , and I am a guy's LOL ! . I whish I could hit the ball that far ! .

  23. Watching this after your Dad's video I notice that both set up with the handle forward. I this idiosyncratic or is it something you teach. Also your hips and Samantha's clear ahead of the contact. Is this a natural move or is it something I should consciously address

  24. I can see some Nicklaus in there, the knee and leg action. A female, left-handed Jack Nicklaus. She's got a beautiful swing.
