Here is an interesting fact for us men over 50. Did you know without some form of resistance training, people will lose about one percent of their muscle mass each year as a natural part of the aging process. This process, known as sarcopenia, can cause a golfer to lose 10 percent of swing speed every 10 years if left unchecked.
The speed that muscle contact can be reduced as much as 25% as we get older. Getting slow-twitch muscles to fire will become more difficult as we age too. Balance, reaction time, and motor neurons decrease too.
I had a friend in his 70’s, Jim’s famous line after a bad shot was, “getting old is not wussies”
So, what can we do?
Train the muscles we use in the golf swing, in the same motion like the golf swing. I call it motion training.
