I am Tom Saguto, PGA Member and founder of SagutoGolf. Thank you for visiting my instructional page where you can find how to get on the fast track to improving your golfing abilities. Whether you are a seasoned golfing veteran looking for a quick swing tune-up after an on-course emergency, or a beginner just looking to get the most out of your golfing experience, I am here to help you achieve your golfing goals.

My mission as your swing doctor is simple, to help you maximize your enjoyment in game of golf. Because, let’s face it, golf is a hard game.

My philosophy is wholly based on the student having a fun, meaningful experience in a frustrating and complicated game where potential lifelong golfers either quit because it is too difficult or that they experience some form of swing-related pain or discomfort. I mitigate these problems by focusing entirely on the student’s needs and goals while teaching a golf swing method that ultimately takes stress off of the common pain areas of the swing.

  1. Thanks Tom. Always had a problem with not completing my backswing. Will definitely give your advice a try. Much appreciated.

  2. Yes Tom, this is a HUGE bit of advice for anyone that wants to have a more pure and effortless swing. Full turn, good width, left shoulder down, and turn it loose. I find that my swing is slower yet I hit the ball further – much further in some cases. It took a week or two of getting the feel for it but the results are simply amazing. I went through your online school and picked up this tip (and many others) and it completely transformed my game. Thanks, Tom and keep 'em coming!

  3. I'm a bit confused, Tom. I totally get what you're saying about tempo and not rushing. Where I get confused is when you say keep going back, it feels like a longer back swing, whereas I've taken advice from a previous video of yours that's about shortening the back swing for ball striking Nirvana. That totally works for me. When I go back to pretty much 90 degree shoulder turn, I tend to raise my head and all sorts of weird stuff, which is causing me to hook it badly and overall poor ball striking.

Now I don't know what to do. A shorter backswing, like 80-85 degrees shoulder turn, works for me and I feel like I hit it far enough. I'm 50 and a bit stiff, so maybe my full range is what I'm doing? I feel like I'm losing control if I try and go farther. My feel is that I'm doing a half back swing (which is just the feel, not what I'm actually doing).

  4. This is just a fantastic suggestion! Not sure Tom how you come up with these tremendous golf techniques. Very helpful. Thanks.

  5. Great tip. The feeling I find is to turn until you feel the twitch muscles stretch and let them trigger the downswing.

  6. Love it – " Convulsion". Love your analogies, Tom! Going to work on this today. I did hit a lot of bombs utilizing your concepts from other videos. I have been trying to figure out how to do implement a swing without the convulsion. Hopefully this is it!

  7. For whatever reason … I find myself arm swinging and not turning my hips and shoulders …. dang it …. I am slowly improving. You are the man!

  8. LOVE the slow Mo's I learn soo much…Guitar rift hell I thought it was the early website coming back!

  9. Great advice. Do you have some tips on loosening up the back muscles to avoid pain or muscle pulls?

  10. Absolutely the best golf instruction on the internet, at least that I've tried and I've done more than a few. These videos have helped my game tremendously.

  11. Tom, what kind of shoes are those. Looks like they invert your feet inward (Am I describing that correctly?)

  12. One of my biggest issues.I am always rushing the downswing. I feel like I am completing the back swing but still have that quick downswing .It has been really hurting my game lately. I tried speeding up my backswing which works sometimes. When I try to slow down my back swing it gets really out of sync.😟
