Evergreen John Daly speaks to the press after an opening round of 73 in The 150th Open Championship in St Andrews.
Plenty of colors on Daly’s scorecard with only 7 pars in his round.
Bogeys on 2, 4, 6, 11, 16 & 17 were nearly cancelled out by birdies on 5, 8, 12, 15 & 18.
He seemed to enjoy the generational boom match with Bryson DeChambeau, who he said was a bit more conservative than his opening round in The Open last year. That round was ended with the “driver sucked” answer to one of my questions.

Daly is still in with a shout of making the weekend but will need to avoid the bogeys tomorrow.

  1. A legend and a one off, but so far from the microphone I could barely hear what he had to say. Where were The Open PR team…….

  2. As wise as he is talented. Pretty remarkable hearing Daly speak of Bryson's power when Daly was always Paul Bunyan on the golf course…legendary power.

  5. JD is a national treasure. Never in the history of professional sports has there been a more honest, genuine and true athlete to compete at such a high level. He has always stayed loyal to his own way and beliefs and I look forward to what his son is gonna bring to the golf world

  7. After all these years he’s still go out and try to drive all the par 4s if he could. The guy is a legend.

  8. This is what happens when a super gifted person finds their gift and loves doing it.

  9. I love JD. If he only had Eldrick's mentality him and Woods would be on their own level. His short game was awesome. Soft hands and distance.
