The best players get their arms firing during the downswing enabling them to achieve a high level of ball striking and distance, but how do they do it?
In this video I share with you just how to get the arms firing in the downswing which is something that so many amateur golfers lack.
It often missing because rarely are golfers aware that they should even be making this move, get your arms firing like the pros and you will be well on your way to better golf

Thanks Chris, I've had a five year break from playing golf and just started to go back down the range again in the hope of hitting the coarse again soon. Your coaching has been by far the most positive thing anyone could do to learn how to swing a club and build a swing. Great stuff and thanks again.
wow wow wow
I started doing this roughly a month ago just on my own. Many coaches say to not "Swing at the ball" etc and I thought this would be casting it but FML when I do it this way it feels great
This is a great vid, this really crystalizes how the transition happens.
This concept and drill has made such a difference to my game. Thanks Chris 🙏
Best advice I got? Loose wrist – created instant lag. The second best tip? Don’t change your swing chasing new ideas – tweak it, but don’t toss away what got you to break 80/85.
This is just the part of my swing that needs to change and these drills will help me make that change. Thank you so much!
WOW!! with all the billion pieces to remember and are tought this absolutely turned that light on! THANK YOU
What helped me the most was three crucial "must-happen" things I figured for myself, to be deliberately aware of during the swing.
One: Head must stay centered – don't sway to the right. This is a huge, unconscious tendency in my swing which I have to consciously override, or else I hit fat or thin.
Two: Left arm totally straight (but completely relaxed) at moment of impact. My tendency is to pull my arm up just before impact.
Three: Zero vertical up-down body and head movement after address. No "pro-level" squatting for me!
If I do these 3 things I can be quite confident that a clean strike will result.
This move is a game changer but it feels so counter intuitive until you commit to hitting a ball with it. The distinction between lowering the hands and shallowing the club was important for me to hear as I was trying to add the shallowing move after getting used to the dropping move and now I think I'll focus more on what's the balls doing to see if shallowing is needed. Although when both are working together I do get that 'baby draw' that feels so good 🙂
Brilliant insight on first move (body and arms) down from top of backswing along with accompanying drills-
A good feel or drill is to split your hands on a club when you imitate the alignment sticks.
Pump twice, put your hands together and hit the shot
Liked that 'throwing the ball down' advice✌️
My score has been going down since i started watching your videos. They are so awesome!! The only thing I wish you would incorporate is demonstration in slow motion. Seeing the swing or movement being taught done in super slow motion would be outstanding. Even without it, I am so great full to watch your videos. Thanks.
U need to simultaneously rotate your hip as you bring the club down infront of your chest, am I correct?
It makes it look so effortless.
Hi Chris, love your video! Can you talk about how to prevent over back swing? My club pass parallel at the top, I have hard to time to bring the handle down to lower point than I started. Also, my hand is outside my right thigh when the club is parallel to ground before impact.
Beer has helped my golf swing… 😁 Seriously though, being prone to the shanks, what has helped is your video on hand path.
8:05 also I like to feel like my wrists are uncocking as well. Like I’m point the club straight to the right side. It really helps “separation”.
When you do this it appears that you are NOT opening your hips during the downswing but actually after you hit the ball. I have found that this helps prevent backpain when I swing. Does this make sense?
My hips beat my arms and i get blocked and forced to early extend
Thanks Chris this is a really good drill. I was wondering is this drill good when i use the driver and 3 wood etc?
Hey Chris, Thanks you as usual for outstanding teaching! I have to say I'm a realist so the most important thing I've learned about the game of golf is play within yourself, know your abilities, example, when we look at videos from the Pros I know ill never look or swing like them but if I understood the golf swing better , like I don't believe in positions I believe in Forces and the way the human body actually works to get the most out of the swing! And of course if I don't practice ,practice what I'm learning none of it's possible ! Thanks again Chris your a Natural Teacher, you break down the golf Swing Beautifully!
