The 2022 Volvo Car Scandinavian Mixed moves to a new home this season as Halmstad Golf Club plays host to the innovative event. Tournament hosts Henrik Stenson and Annika Sorenstam tee it up alongside defending champion Jonathan Caldwell and in-form Ladies European Tour stars Maja Stark and Linn Grant, but will it be a man or a woman lifting the trophy on Sunday? Home favourite Alex Noren is the highest-ranked male player in the field this week as he goes in search of DP World Tour win number 11. Four of those victories came in as many months in 2016 and since then he has claimed two Rolex Series wins at the 2017 BMW PGA Championship and 2018 Open de France. Swede Maja Stark only turned professional last season but to say her introduction to the paid ranks has been successful would be a dramatic understatement. A two-time winner on the LET last season, she added a third title at this year’s Women’s NSW Open and sits top of the Race to Costa del Sol, with five other top tens from her seven starts. It’s all to play for in Sweden!

  1. This whole tournament is nothing but virtue signalling. I bare no malice towards the winner. She obviously played well to win but she didn't play the same event as the men. She played the course at the same address and she played at the same time, but she did NOT play the same golf course. Since when has golf only been about second shots? For example, the women played the 14th hole in the final round some 65 yards in FRONT of the mens tee box. That's ridiculous! Even in club competition, the women tee off forward tees but in the same field but have their own prizes given out for the winners. This is a stupid event from the European Tours. t's purely novelty and does NOTHING to promote either game, especially the mens game.

Historic? NOT!!! An appalling ideological gimmick? Much better descirption….

  2. Fair play to her..
But, if you want equal rights and pay etc get on the same tee as the men and accept the outcome! If you win off the same tees then you'll do wonders for the womens tour… if not, stop moaning about it because tournaments like this one are exhibitions and are in no way whatsoever a level playing field.

  3. Amazing performance! Well done Linn Grant, the best game of golf I have seen for years, nine points ahead of the men and fourteen point ahead of the women ( I mean Women). Brilliant, proud of you girl!

  4. What is up with the smoke machine and music? I'm all for livening golf up a bit but that seems excessive.

And well played to Grant, dominant performance.

  5. Interesting to see the reactions this event is causing! This tournament is not a manifesto with the goal to change golf to a level where every tournament shall have a mixed field because everything in the world needs to be equal. It's a fun outlier event to raise interest in the women's game – might be that this event is the spark to a young girl's dream.

The players seem to like it, it attracts companies who understands that if they should sustain in a modern world where more and more women gonna earn equal money as men they need to be visible in the right arenas. Apparently some companies believe it's valuable enough to be exposed at this event to contribute to the prize money

On a personal level it's interesting to know whether people who are appalled by this event express these opinions towards daughters/relatives/girlfriends/spouses, diminish goals and dreams just because men happen to have physical advantages in something.

  6. Any golfer on their day could win any tournament and for this lady to shoot a 64 is no easy task. Awesome to see and great for golf.

  7. The 16th was on fire! Great pulse, good beer, happy golfers. I wish it was like this when I go out play it, although I wouldn't trigger the smoke machine.
