Budget COSTCO COBRA Driver vs $500 Cobra LTDx Driver!? (SHOCKING!) When buying new golf clubs we always want the best golf clubs for us… but does that mean you have to buy an expensive new driver? do you need the best driver of 2022? the longest driver of 2022? maybe you need the most forgiving driver of 2022… none of which sound like they will be cheap golf clubs? What about buying golf clubs from Costco? we have all seen the Kirkland golf clubs. Kirkland golf balls, costco golf clubs and costco golf balls have been a huge hit, now you can even buy Cobra golf clubs from costco in a package set. budget golf clubs could well be the future of golf…cheapo package sets especially… but what is the difference between an expensive 2022 Cobra LTDX driver, vs a budget package set driver? let’s find out… and let’s do it now!

  1. Why crank the loft to 9 degrees??? Keep them the same and its then a like for like test???

  2. So as long as you're ok with your driver sounding terrible and you can hit a driver out the center every time, then you should get the cheap one. To my understanding any conforming driver can only have a maximum of 1.5 smash/efficiency so a ball can only come off the face at a max of 1.5 times the speed of the clubhead, the improvements in newer clubs are more about getting the best out of off center hits and the ability to customize to different swings. Also they sound so much better than "just a plain titanium driver". This is an interesting comparison but at the same time why not just buy a used F9 or Speedzone?

  3. A bunch of whiny little wimps oooh I can’t stand the sound..who give a crap about the sound as long as it hits a ton

  4. My callaway driver a 2013 model, still performing okay, might be the right time to try a more modern driver

  5. As per the comments below, you should have tested them both with the same loft, otherwise it is not a fair and equitable test.

  6. One is 10.5 degree and the more expensive one is set to 9….not really a fair comparison imo

  7. What does this say about shafts? Both drivers giving virtually the same ball flight on the course, but completely different shafts.

  8. When I was a teenager I was a 4 handicap golfer. I bought my own clubs with my paper route money. A 14 club set of Northwesterns with the bag from JC Penny for $70. I played every day after school or work. As I've aged I know one thing for certain. It's not the clubs, it's the golfer and the amount of time willing to give to practice. Real practice, on the course. In hindsight, I had a little advantage, I would just jump on the course between groups and play until I was caught. When they told me to leave I would politely say "OK, see you tomorrow". After awhile that just let me play.

  9. Sorry James, but I think you need to run the test over again with BOTH drivers set at 10.5°. It's not an equal test with the LTD set at 9°. I think the more expensive shaft helped with your swing speed vs a cheap shaft. I personally think the boxed set drive would have, as you said about the LTD in the video, kicked the LTD's ass if all things were equal. Run the test again with both drivers at 10.5° and add a HAZRDOUS shaft to the cheaper driver, and the results would have been a lot different, and I think you know it.

  10. Like the concept of misleading higer handicapper players to confuse them on price, then seeing how they perform with the clubs. Great comparison here though.

  11. I use an old Wilson driver from 2007 in 10.5 loft with a 400cc head. Recently played with a Mavrik Max at 11 deg, and there was no noticeable difference in my driving length or accuracy, which is about 250 yds.

  12. That budget Club just looks like a Cobra from a few Years ago!! Which is probably all they did. Which hey it worked very well then, and apparently still does..

  13. This is an unfair test. You de-lofted the LTDX to 9* which gives that driver likely a 10+ yard dyy it stance advantage minimum. You should have left it at 10.5* like the XL so you has same lofts. Nobody does a driver comparison and takes and alters the loft so the two drivers are different by 1.5°. If you would’ve left it at 10.5° the budget driver likely would’ve outperformed it. It doesn’t matter what suits you better what matters is that the clubs are of equal match in loft and is close in other spec as possible. That makes this test totally invalid, but at least we see that the cheap driver would have likely beaten in the more expensive one had they both been at 10.5*.

  14. Great comparison test, seems crazy to buy the main stream driver but looking down on it I have too feel confident. That’s great marketing and a little ego.

  15. I knew I shouldn't have watched this. I just got a fitting done and just spent $650 plus tax here in Canada 2 days ago for the LTDx. On the plus side, I'm hitting it great and totally happy with the club. Also on the plus side, I don't think Costco here in my area stock the budget version.

  16. The XL Speed is the run away winner on bang for the buck$. My concern is two fold. Are they conforming to the USGA and R&A? And how many peasants were exploited in their manufacture?

  17. Just bought a Radspeed xb for $200 🙂 it'll do. Also bought Apex 19 irons (4-PW) NEW for 615usd and Stroke Lab 7s putter for $90. Not a fan of budget sets… just buy last gen, tech is pretty much the same.

    Now looking for a 3 wood and 2 wedges (48 and 54) I already have a 58.

  18. Doesn't look as good Doesn't sound as good headcover isn't better and it's not as long as the lx speed but it's 1 nil

  19. Just shows mate that even the good drivers from back in the day can compete with the mega tech drivers of today. 6 yards waste of money and proper golfers know…..

  20. Thinking about picking up the Costco cobra set, play golf every couple weeks but really looking to start playing more would that be an ideal set or is there a better option

  21. Just shows how much the big names are ripping you off and it would have been even more of a result for the budget club if the lofts were the same on both clubs 😉

  22. I have a Mizuno ST180 driver, it's obviously a few years old now. I love shiny new clubs but i'm not sure I would see much benefit/improvement by changing to a new current range version. I'm having lessons at the moment which are costing me less than a new driver and I hope/suspect will improve my driving much more than the latest model driver.

  23. You just showed the same as a couple other golfers have, a good golfer can play. The good player can use different lofts, flex, and equipment and still hit good shots. I really like my Cobra equipment. I have the ones you showed in the clip, the loud one, they make that really loud “Ping” sound. Good equipment though.

  24. And the standard deviation was nothing ad well I'd say there the same 👀👀🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤣🤣💰💰💰

  25. Come on Robbo . . . You're better than that. How can you do an apples-to-apples test if you adjust the expensive driver down to fit you. I love your videos and content, but this test is completely invalid. Change it back to 10.5 degrees and retest them. Make it a true head- to- head comparison.

  26. Interesting comparison, main lesson seems to be that even a good golfer like you would be better with 10.5 deg, loose 5-10yds but hit more fairways, is it the way to go ??
