With the Presidents Cup taking place at Charlotte’s Quail Hollow Club in September, this year’s Wells Fargo Championship has moved to TPC Potomac at Avenel Farm. Two-time FedExCup winner Rory McIlroy headlines the field as he looks to defend his title from last season. The Northern Irishman will be hoping to continue where he left off after firing a final-round 64 at the Masters. Last year’s runner up, Abraham Ancer will be aiming to emulate previous performances as he returns to an event and golf course (shares the course record) where he has displayed strong form. Meanwhile, recent Wells Fargo Championship winners teeing it up include Max Homa (2019), Jason Day (2018), Brian Harman (2017), James Hahn (2016) and Rickie Fowler (2012). Other notables are major winners Gary Woodland, Webb Simpson, Sergio Garcia and Patrick Reed.

  1. He's still a great golfer. I just wish he could get out of his own way and play naturally, like he used to. We saw a glimpse of that in the final round of the Masters and again here. So he has still most certainly "got it".

I think he's still got a few great wins left in the tank once he puts it all together, which he will.

  2. 307 carry according to trackman, 272 on the shot link…..Turn down the exaggeration meter a bit boys….

  3. Holy smokes, that drive on 7 just missed the international space station. He launched that ball into orbit!

  4. Commentary the last 2 days has been annoying, all I hear is how terrible and brutal the conditions are and what an exhausting physical and mental round they are having to deal with..smh..poor millionaire golfers who are pampered and treated like rock stars in every town they roll into, wear state of the art top line rain gear and waterproof shoes with a caddie keeping grips wiped dry and carrying everything they need in that tour bag. I heard them say something about how difficult it was having to carry an umbrella….Here in New England we play all Winter if it doesn't snow, wind cold and rain is welcome because we can play in that. Suck it up Florida buttercups..no surprise the kid who grew up here in New England is leading after round 3.!!

  5. Watching the live coverage today, you could see just how defeated almost all the guys were out there today, Rory was like, “This reminds me of home, what’re you guys so downtrodden for?” 😎

  6. Rory kinda sucks at putting huh? Lol
So many great approaches that other top players wouldn’t waste

  7. he hits those iron shots insanely pure, I could watch this all day.

  8. Brutal seriously a few rain drops and no wind. Rorrs grew up in NI, just a normal Hollywood day.

  9. Please can someone explain to me why in competitions they play a full 18 and then an additional 9 holes?

  10. …..Great reporting!!!!
……..Let's do a report (with required click bait) on McElroy making a great run in a golf tournament…Despite the weather….AND then not make any mention of:……WHERE THE F*** THE TOURNAMENT IS!😆😆

    Beautiful!

  11. I wouldn't call these brutal conditions. I wouldn't even call these terrible. I would classify these conditions as not ideal.

  12. Love you Rory! These conditions are like what he grew up playing in as a kid. When he hits a full powered swing it sounds like he’s going to just make that golf ball EXPLODE! So much hang time on his drives too! Damn!

  13. really don't see why rory gets so much press an air time or why anyone listens to him. he aint even top 10. his time has passed.

  14. I love the way the PGA considers this "brutal conditions".
In Northern Ireland this is considered "a good day for a round of golf".

  15. I live in the community this event was hosted at, Avenel. It was horrendous outside. Felt like 45 degrees. Consistent rain all day. Wind gusting. It was awful.

  16. Two of the most brutal days golf I’ve ever seen outside of Scotland! Happens every week there!

  17. Brutal conditions…that only occurs with freezing rain, even playing in light snowfall is better. I would have loved that light rain.
