  1. I've only owned two good sets of irons in my life, Cobra FP (2008) and Cobra Amp (2012). I've been happy with them but am shopping around for a new set for next season and was going to get some other than Cobra for a change…looks like I better test these though. 😃 As I'm improving a bit I'd like to get something in the players distance category.

  2. As an aging golfer, I'm 60, I've been looking at the TEC X for yardage. Are these shafts the same length as a 'standard' lofted club?

  3. Great review Matt! I'm a 20hcp and play the 2020 model and love them. I'm looking forward getting my hands on '22 Forged Tec as well. In my case, I WILL be sticking with the same company.

  4. Cool! I have a quick swing but my striking isn't great. I'm a mid to high handicap and I'd like a little more forgiveness, without the silly distance. I find when I've tried these "players distance" or any "game improvement" irons I tend to lose my distance control, and all the clubs go 200 yds. It's a little frustrating that handicap is so closely associated with swing speed — I guess I should just slow my swing down haha

  5. My dad got these (non x model) after being fitted for a set of irons. They are great for the guys used to a smaller shape that have lost their distance with age it seems

  6. My issue with strong lofted irons is not how far they go in general. They serve a purpose for certain players. My issue is more so how impressed people are by how far a 7 iron goes when it's really a 5 iron with the number 7 on the bottom. It's a 5 iron with a lower center of gravity than a traditional 5 iron blade. So basically it should go same distance as a 5 iron blade but higher which is exactly what we see here and in every other test of strong lofted irons. Irons shouldn't be numbered anymore in this day and age. They should just have the degree loft stamped on them same as wedges do because the numbers are irrelevant today.

  7. how does the forged tec compare to the tour mim. i had the tour mim and loved em but they were a bit too bladey for me and honestly they produced to much spin for me. the original forged tec were too offset. looking for something in between really.

  8. Nice Job Matt! I am glad finally these are getting reviewed. I been playing the Forged Tec for a few weeks now and they feel and perform much better than my old P790/P770 combo set. This has to be the most overlooked launch of any clubs from a larger manufacturer in a long time. If it was Taylormade, Titleist, ect, there would have been a dozen reviews embargo day.

  9. Great review Matt! You were getting some monster peak heights with both models..kudos to Cobra! For those that might get scared by the strong lofted Forged Tec X, the Mizuno Pro 225 hollow body is also worth a try, 7 iron lofted at 30 degrees…Not sure if you've tried these yet, Matt? Great looking and feel!

  10. Is there a shaft or ball you could play to pick up more spin? Or would that defeat the whole purpose of these clubs?

  11. Any thoughts on why the Tec was averaging 2degrees shallower angle of attack over the tecX? and this is the kind of video i'd love to see more of Matty, bring on more club testing! (hint, hint manufacturers…. get your "Kit" to Matt!)

  12. Great review Matt. Would be interesting to see results with the FTX and your swing slowed to 80mph. More likely the intended audience swing speed IMO.

  13. Nice vid Matt ! I got fit and ordered the tec x's w/the KBS PGI R shafts. I'm about a 15-16. Can't wait to play w/them.

  14. Two nice-looking Irons from Cobra👍
I'm tempted to try hollow-bodied Irons but I worry whether I would have the swing speed to get them launching high enough to hold Greens.
Is there any chance that you could repeat the review, but at a slower swing speed???

  15. What would be the downside by replacing a five iron that goes 200 with a second 7 iron that goes 200?

  16. Was waiting for you to review these as thinking to get it..love it Matt 👏
ps crazy getting 140 ballspeed with the X

  17. Well shown Matt. Nearly identical to my results when I tested them, and even on the hit it hard ones because we all have to do that. The forged tec inspire you to do that. lol Both great looking and feeling clubs and I hope a lot of people get their hands on them because they leave and impression.

  18. Great video Matt. Still waiting for my forged tecs to come in, should only be another week or so.

  19. Great vid. If I can get the gapping dialed in between clubs, might be a good option next season to bring back some distance for this old guy!
