One of your best videos yet.
Probably the hardest thing for amateurs to grasp and most likely due to how golf is being taught by most pro's. This should be lesson 1 and only after that has been understood and working should you look at grip, wrist angles etc.
5:25 artisticas son unos X18TINDER.Uno muchas y un buen ejercicio. Saludos desded la Cd. de world 🌹😉💖
Great lesson Russel, I so Pete Cowen show something along these lines, he called it loading the lead shoulder.
Thanks for all the helpful and entertaining videos. I've used many of your suggested drills especially the ones to do with early hip extension – something I didn't know I was doing until you explained it.
This video got me thinking of something a local teaching pro told me during a 15 minute casual lesson on the driving range. At the time, I was struggling with consistently hitting my shots to the right (starting right and either slicing or fading). He explained that my problem was caused by two things I was doing wrong.
First was that I was fanning the club open during my takeaway, which was making it difficult to strike the ball squarely. I found this advice easy to understand and correct.
The second thing he told me was that my body was getting too far ahead of my hands and that I should try to start my downswing with my shoulders and arms, then begin pivoting my body. I tried this out and found it impossible to execute. When I exaggerated the move, it resulted in a "mostly arms" swing – with little power.
Do you have any thoughts on this subject – that is, of the arms getting too far ahead of the body?
These are great lessons and this one in particular is I believe the key to better golf.
excellent video — you get to the point quickly, your descriptions of the problems are concrete, and you offer two excellent drills one can do at home
Great video as always. question, you mention in rotation arms come closer to body resulting in hands out side of body, but we always hear to keep hands in front of body… this is a conflict. What am I not getting?
no rotation is exactly my issue! Great vid
Great way to keep the lead arm connected to the chest on the downswing, well done!
“A foot and a half long”. It wasn’t until today I realized you were only 3 ft tall!!! 🤪
That was excellent!
Great video! I tend to focus on getting in a good P6 position, let the club drop in the slot and then turn hard. But, it doesnt seem jive well to that whipping, easy power swing starting from the top suggested here.
Russell….this small movement tip has made a real difference in quality of contact for me. Thanks for your knowledge and full explanation in all your instruction.
This is a TERRIFIC drill. I struggle so much with making my swing dynamic as opposed to static. By that I mean I tend to make my backswing…stop…and then start the downswing. This drill is a great way to work on that issue. Thanks as always Russell!
Fantastic drill! I used a “dog ball” which was too difficult with the heavy end. This rope drill looks way better!
What a GREAT tip, I’m an over the top person and this really clarifies for me the sequence and the timing
What a beautiful and simple drill. It really connects the whole body together. For me it shows how to put lag into your swing without trying. This type of drill will remove what I call the hit in the golf swing. It shows you how to turn back then turn through without using the hands to create power. Brilliant video
Russell, you're a genius! 🤓
Excellent video
This is a thinker. I have been purposely pausing at the top of my back swing to try and accomplish this. I feel like my hands get away when I stay fluid. 🤔
I've always heard to keep the club in front of you throughout the whole swing, what am I not getting?
Excellent suggestion Russell for getting the chest involved in the downswing! This possibly may be the "secret hidden move" that I need in my downswing. I know that I have a rotational issue and maybe this drill will help eliminate this problem. I am going to archive this for future reference! Good Job Russell!
